The great warrior of Gath. The mighty champion of the Philistines. Embedded in ancient folklore and religion. Coming from the World of Old. His size and stature is not human. He is bigger. The armor of Goliat is black. Creamy black lacings. Stands with a towering height. He can grab elements from both earth and heaven. Earthy, roasted, notes from the earth. Warming, pungent, sweet notes from the skies. His heart is beating slowly, almost endlessly slow. This man is thought to be invincible!

Ingredients: Water, barley malt, roasted barley, dark cassonade sugar, flaked oats, hops, gourmet coffee and yeast.

Aromat bardzo intensywny, wanilia, deserowa czekolada i kawa. Kolor czarny jak smoła, nieprzejrzyste, gęste. Piana ciemnobeżowa, wysoka, bardzo drobna, trwała, pięknie zdobi szkło. W smaku intensywnie kawowe, wręcz kwaśne, kakao, lekko waniliowe. Alkohol znakomicie ukryty, Goryczka średnia, niskie wysycenie. Piwo łatwo pijalne mimo swej gęstości i alkoholu. Kapitalne piwo.

Bottled. The aroma has coffee, chocolate, moccha. Black coloured beer with a lasting, off-white/tan head. The taste is initialy caramel sweet with coffee, chocolate, roast and becomes more bitter towards the finish. Full, velvety mouthfeel. Nice.

UPDATED: MAR 8, 2016 Bottle from Hopduvel shared by Craftmember. Light lacing, deep mocha coloured, thin head over an jet black beer with barely visible chestnut colour on the edges. Powerful and attractive aroma of old dusty cocoa powder, dry pipe tobacco, mocha ice cream, liquorice, chestnuts, meat broth, burnt wood, chocolate sauce, vanilla, espresso. Soft baked banana and candied fig sweetness in onset surrounded by well-dosed blackberry sourishness and cured meat ’umaminess’, soft carbo fitting well with the thick, viscous, oily mouthfeel; deep and big caramelly, nutty and bittersweet chocolatey maltiness with coffeeish roasted bitterness in the end, some peppery hops providing final structure, and so does an otherwise well-hidden gin-like alcohol warmth; ends long, deliciously coffeeish and bittersweet, complex and rewarding. Quite and impressive example of the style indeed. Recently had it from tap at Gollem too, where the aroma was more or less the same, but the taste seemed sweeter (almost like a very heavy milk stout), with less roasted bitter intensity, and creamier, but equally impressive for sure.

Bottle - coffee and nut aromas, with a hint of hops; it pours black with a foamy brown head. It feels very soft and bubbly in the mouth, with a mellow initial sweetness that gives way to a strong coffee wave followed by a bitter and acidic finish. I initially found this delicious, but after a few mouthfuls the sweet nutty profile gets lost and you mainly have the acidic bitterness of the coffee clinging to your tongue - definitely tasty, but only in small amounts...needs more balance!

Pours black with a thin tan head. Surprisingly medium body with toasted malts chocolate and soy. These flavours are battered into submission however by the coffee. Good example of a coffee stout but perhaps too much coffee and acidity to let it acheive greatness.

One of my favourite coffee stouts out there, since I am a big coffee drinker. This is the beer that most resembles drinking an actual coffee. Medium body (a bit lighter than was expected) and with roasted malts and dark chocolate in the background, but coffee coffee coffee is all you can feel.

Beer dark as night, really bold beige head which lingers for a long time. Lacing sticks after the head has diminished. Aroma has espresso coffee, licorice, dry roasted notes and dark chocolate. Taste has sweet chocolate, roasted dry malts and espresso coffee. Full oily body and low carbonation. Excellent coffee stout.

This was poured into a snifter. The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a thin off white to tan foamy head. Stringy lacing running here and there on the glass. The smell started off with a sweet to roasty cocoa to dried coffee bean. Light vanilla slides in for the balance. The taste was mainly sweet with a moderately roasty to robust dried coffee flavor combining into the cocoa. There’s a dry coffee aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a nice sipping quality about it. Carbonation felt nice and somewhat low. Overall, as an Imperial Stout, it’s nicely done and I could definitely see myself coming back to this.

Feine Geschichte.
