4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
20 cl. draft @ Delirium Hoppy Loft. Black with small mocha head. Nose is cold coffee, grounds & roast. Taste is roaste coffee & malts, ice cold coffee is heavy, bitter roast is noticable in the back, more sweet malts & coffee, light herbs, touch caramel, more on the roasted side of RIS. Body is on the side of less carb. Very enjoyable but falls a bit short of quite a few of RIS, still very nice but probably not for the price this usually commends.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Jet black with a 2 finger mocha colored head. Aroma is chocolate, molasses, roasted malt and a hint of vanilla. Not picking up any coffee there. Coffee comes to the forefront in the taste, supported by chocolate, roasted malt and a solid alcoholic burn. Rich, oily, chewy palate. This is awesome.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Black colour with a tan head, medium lasting and very nice lacework. Aroma is strong coffee and ashes, notes of wood and roasted malts. Flavor is mainly coffee beans, notes of roasted malts, ripe fruit, plums, vanilla, , slightly ashes and smoke. The final has a decent bitterness with good duration, also is highly noticeable the highly presence of coffee beans and ashes in the aftertaste. Very drinkable in spite of the high alcohol.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours black with fairly big tan head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, vanilla and cream, light bourbon. Taste is coffee bitter with an underlying sourness almost like sour cherries. Some bourbon sweetness as well, growing stronger towards the finish that’s still fairly coffee bitter. Warming booziness as well. Body is medium to rich and somewhat creamy.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
375 ml bottle. Pours pitch black with a big frothy head that fades normally. Aroma is sweet, creamy coffee with some light roast and chocolate. Taste is moderately sweet with a low bitterness. Lots of roasted coffee but doesn’t seem to have that great fresh coffee taste. Some light chocolate and licorice in the finish. A little boozy too. Medium to thick body and a creamy mouthfeel. Decent beer but a little too sugary sweet and not enough complexity.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
17th February 2013
Opaque dark brown beer, good tan head. Palate is soft and dry. Rich earthy coffee with a tangy fruitiness. A little malt cream. Dry finish. Tasty but could do with having something else going on other than just coffee.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
New Beer Distributors, NYC 375ml ($9.25): Pours black with an immense creamy coffee foam coloured head. Aroma is a ton of coffee, with a slight boozy note; there are a lot of roasted malts notes, but of course. Taste hits hard right at the front, but mellows towards the back. You can feel this beer go inside of you all too well, if you know what I mean. The alcohol is noticeable and the aftertaste is formidable (lingering for quite a long time). Fortunately, not too sweet, but still sugary if you get my drift. Sticky, gooey, almost dirty. Less boozy than the aroma, but still noticeable. Pretty fierce. I actually liked this more than I thought I would, but the 375ml are plenty for me.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with quickly settling light brown head. Minimal lacing. Aroma is coffee, heavily roasted malt, chocolate. Flavor is again heavy roast, dark chocolate, with a bitter coffee, chocolate finish. Soft carbonation, medium body, and smooth texture. Sweet, drinkable, and rich. Quite good. Had been putting off this purchase due to price, was good, though not sure it was worth the hype considering the abundance of good coffee beer.
