Bottle at home. Pitch-black in the glass, but is also topped with a beautiful light brown and creamy foam head. Very welcoming. The aroma strikes one in the face as soon as the crown cork is off, and is characterized by a lot of roastedness. However, there’s still a good dose of grassy hops but is also sweet with touches of dark chocolate, coffee and oak. In the taste the beer is even more roasted, and have a weak ash touch. Hops is definitely present in the flavour too, and a little touch of horseradish. Mouth feel is rich and oily and has a medium to strong bitterness. A really interesting and tasty beer, complex, but with a balanced flavor.

Pours black, thick. Big brown head, slowly sinking. Aruma of roasted malts, coffe, nuts chocolate. Smells balanced. Not oversweet. Taste: Nice! Perfectly well balanced between the roasted barley, the coffe, the chocolate. Not too sweet. Can understand why To Øl is rated best brewery in Scandinavia. Perfect thickness. Want more. Nice beer.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle 37.5 cl.
Black, with a dark tan, creamy head. Distinct malt, caramel, coffee and chocolate. Thick and creamy in the mouth. With a long, really long, malty chocolate taste.
After a good dinner, you can have coffee, cognac and a nice cake. Or a glass of Goliat.
This is a beer I have to taste again, just to elaborate on the description. Truly a fascinating beverage.

4.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Truly amazing beer. By far the best Imperial Stout I’ve tasted. Gonna get me another bottle for aging. Goliat was a mighty warrior (defeated, but still), and this is a mighty beer.
Appearance: before opening the bottle I was almost certain it was painted black. Really, even the texture of the glass seemed like painted. Beer itself is pitch black with a thick tan / dark tan head. Great lacing.
Aroma: dark chocolate, coffee, roasted malts and some nice alcohol notes in the back. A perfect combination considering the time of year.
Taste: coffee and roasted malts with the first few sips, later comes dark chocolate with alcohol again. Flavours are intense and "in your face", except the alcohol notes, those are still very pleasant and warming, but doesn’t feel like a 10,1% ABV.
Mouthfeel: very low carbonation, but not flat. Medium to full bodied.
Overall: Outstanding Imperial Stout, a beer you have to try.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
375ml bottle from Vinmonopolet Asker. Brown 3 finger head which turns into big bubbles before it fades out. Good lacing. Dark brown/black body. Aroma of coffee, liquorice, barnyard and roasted malt. Feels creamy on the tongue. Good balance between bitter and sweet with a salty feel, almost like soy sauce. Long lasting bitter aftertaste. An enjoyable stout.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pleasant smell of bread, raisin and coffee. Black as a night at winter time.
Very little foam. Medium sweetness, medium bitterness, a little salty.
It has a nice feel in the mouth; medium body, thin feel, soft carbonation, long finish with a distinct taste of coffee and chocolate.
Overall definitely an enjoyable beer!
