The great warrior of Gath. The mighty champion of the Philistines. Embedded in ancient folklore and religion. Coming from the World of Old. His size and stature is not human. He is bigger. The armor of Goliat is black. Creamy black lacings. Stands with a towering height. He can grab elements from both earth and heaven. Earthy, roasted, notes from the earth. Warming, pungent, sweet notes from the skies. His heart is beating slowly, almost endlessly slow. This man is thought to be invincible!

Ingredients: Water, barley malt, roasted barley, dark cassonade sugar, flaked oats, hops, gourmet coffee and yeast.

375ml bottle pours dark oily brown black with 2 finger tan head. Nose is coffee, mocha, cream, dark fruits, toast, roasty. Taste is rich creamy coffee beans, chocolate, some subtle dark fruit, a touch of oxidation in this bottle, cocoa, vanilla. Finish is bitter earthy coffee, dark chocolate, toasty malt, cocoa. Enjoyable.

375 ml bottle from Les Vignerons. Pitch black, absolutely no light passing through, with a big, fluffy, forever lasting light beige head. Pretty intense and strong aroma, plenty of roasted malts notes, bitter dark chocolate (the 80%+ type), some molasses, vanilla, freshly toasted coffee beans. Surprisingly, not much alchool in the nose, very subtle. Wow, in the mouth it’s exactly the opposite. Harsh booze burn as soon as te first sip, strong bitterness upfront, just before a sitcky, brown sugary sweetness. Roasted, almost ashy, lingering coffee and chocolate taste. It’s moderately dry, and it works quite well, making it more drinkable, while reamining a sipper, obviously. Soft carbonation, almost full body, oily texture. It’s a big, bold, "in your face" RIS, thats for sure. Pretty good overall.

Bottle thanks to Brian! Pours opaque black with a medium creamy brown head that lasts a long time and laces well. Aroma is quite coffee forward, backed by rich roasted malts and dark chocolate. Flavor is the same, rich mocha flavors, light plus sweet and strong bitter; perhaps too strong. Fair amount of acid from the coffee as well. Lingering bitterness to the far far finish. Fairly full body, fairly creamy. Why does it have to be so bitingly bitter? You know, sometimes you need to come to terms with a beer. What was blindingly bitter at first mellowed out after breathing (and or killing my tastebuds) and turned into something wholly enjoyable.

bottle from Pat, thanks man! thick black viscous pour with half a finger of dark mocha head, that quickly fades to a thing bubbly layer. Aroma, some coffee, light hops, and brown sugar. Taste, nice mouthfeel, mellow up front then some big wallops of coffee followed by roasted malts and some sight sweetness, mixed in with some dark fruits, finishes strong almost peppery like with a bitter coffee aftertaste. Overall its good but it just doesn’t quite come together for me.

Ładna drobnopęcherzykowa piana. W aromacie ciemne słody, lekka kawa. W smaku dużo wyraźniejsza zimna kawa, zdecydowana słodycz i lekka kwaśność drugiej nucie.Wyczuwalny alkohole ale nie jest nachalny. Niezły RIS, ale piłem lepsze.

Bottle (375ml) from Vinmonopolet, Oslo. Black colour. Half-inch dark beige head that reduces to a thin film and a little lacing. Sweet lactic malt aroma with wood, chocolate, coffee, soy sauce. Full body, soft (yet ’mouthfilling’) carbonation. Pleasant palate, at the same time oily and foamy. Sweet taste with a powerful, growing bitterness, and quite a bit of acidity, giving a good overall balance. Taste is fairly subdued compared to other imp stouts, but opens up at around 15 degrees C. Long bitter-sweet aftertaste with coffee and licorice.
