The great warrior of Gath. The mighty champion of the Philistines. Embedded in ancient folklore and religion. Coming from the World of Old. His size and stature is not human. He is bigger. The armor of Goliat is black. Creamy black lacings. Stands with a towering height. He can grab elements from both earth and heaven. Earthy, roasted, notes from the earth. Warming, pungent, sweet notes from the skies. His heart is beating slowly, almost endlessly slow. This man is thought to be invincible!

Ingredients: Water, barley malt, roasted barley, dark cassonade sugar, flaked oats, hops, gourmet coffee and yeast.

Bottle (375ml) from Vinmonopolet, Oslo. Black colour. Half-inch dark beige head that reduces to a thin film and a little lacing. Sweet lactic malt aroma with wood, chocolate, coffee, soy sauce. Full body, soft (yet ’mouthfilling’) carbonation. Pleasant palate, at the same time oily and foamy. Sweet taste with a powerful, growing bitterness, and quite a bit of acidity, giving a good overall balance. Taste is fairly subdued compared to other imp stouts, but opens up at around 15 degrees C. Long bitter-sweet aftertaste with coffee and licorice.

Bottle pour opaque black with large tan head. Nose slight peaty with hint of mineral, then roast and chocolate. Taste earthy up front, followed by the brown sugar, roast, chocolate and light coffee. Late palate light bitterness and pleasing roasted finish. Reasonable mouth feel. Fairly sweet all in all for an imperial stout with coffee.

Mmmmmmmmh!!

On tap at the Hoppy Pub ,Thessaloniki . Pours black with a thick brown head. Full aroma of roasted coffee, some chocolate and a hint of alcohol. Taste is really nice with coffee in the front, some bitter chocolate, dark fruits and roasted malts. Low carbonation abd a long coffee bitter, dry aftertaste. Delicious !!!

Bottle BB Jan 2017. Thick black pour into a snifter, small brown head. Aroma - sharp alcohol, some chocolatey coffee, orange and piney hops. Body is medium, a bit foamy in the mouth, touch of carbonation. Taste - initially very hoppy lime and mixed citrus, mint, coffee. Finishes ashy, burnt toast, slightly dry and astringent. I’ve had numerous IPAs that are less hoppy than this. There’s a lot to like about this one (particularly the finish) but I think it would have been better without bucket-loads of American hops.

Pors pitch black with a brown head with viscosity. Nose of leather, coffee, some chocolate. Strong start of roasted malts, coffee, some leathery notes, some floral arrival.

Bottle 375 ml at home, poured into a snifter. ABV 10.1% Totally balck beer, with a tall dark brown hed, thick, with good retention, leaving medium kacing around the glass. Great aroma, lots of chocolate, coffee and mocha, as a fan of all things chocolate I find this very much to my liking. Great taste too, again plenty of chocolate and class A coffee, light vanilla, mocha, light alcohol, a bit of roasted malts on the finish and on the aftertaste. Medium thick body, god amount of carbonation. Wow, this was amazing, very tasty and drinkable, more please.
