3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 jkwood04 (2291) - Connecticut, USA - DEC 19, 2012
375ml bottle in a snifter. Pours black with a lacy, tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, hints of smokiness and dark chocolate, some dough, and floral hops. Flavor the same, with a weird coffee note at the end. Thicker texture. A good beer, but I am not sure the coffee really adds to this beer.

Pours a two finger khaki head that fades slowly leaving some lace. Midnight black color, no highlights, some yeast left in bottle. Light-medium carbonation and medium-heavy bodied. Roasted coffee nose and flavor is the same, slightly sweet roasted coffee, no burnt coffee finish. Higher ABV is hidden. Pricey at $8.99 for a 375ml bottle from Beverage Warehouse Winooski, VT.

Bottle to snifter (thanks tmoney99). Looks solid; a murky cola with iff-white lacing. Smells of malt and bother coffee. Tastes like it smells, only bettwe, with a good mouthfeel. Nice.

375ml bottle @ Viisi Penniä, Helsinki
BBE 10/01/15 - Pours pitch black with a tiny sticky head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malts, chocolate, vanilla and peat. Taste is slightly sweet and bitter with a lot of vanilla, chocolate and coffee notes and roasted malts. Hints of peat and wood as well. Finish is roasty and fruity with some bitterness and sticky mouthfeel. Nice, quite well balanced imperial stout.
4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 jesperhammer (2221) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - MAR 13, 2012
06-MAR-2012, bottle @home, from "Fish & Beer".
Black with high brown head.
Nose is roasted and very dry with coffee and chocolate.
Not really in you face aroma as is normal with To Øl, but still nice.
Taste is more pronounced. with more chocolate and coffee. Sweet as well as dry roast.
Long roasted finish. A little peaty finish...and cognac?
First Imperial Stout from To Øl, as far as I remember, and a very good job at it.
NICE:)
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 corby112 (2214) - philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 22, 2012
Pitch black and completely opaque with a one finger mocha colored head that slowly settles into a lasting ring. Streaks of soapy lacing left behind.
Slightly smokey, roasted dark malt aroma with lots of robust coffee bean and sweet lactic sugars. Some burnt sugars along with dark chocolate, toffee, fudge, oatmeal and gourmet coffee bean. Strong lactic cream presence makes this smell more like a dessert than an espresso drink.
On the fuller end of medium bodied with a robust, deeply roasted dark malt flavor that tastes more like a coffee drink than the aroma suggests. Slight bitterness but not overly dry or acrid at all. There’s a delicious roasted coffee flavor but it’s countered by the lactic sugars and a sweet fudge-y chocolate cake character. Hints of coffee bean, toffee, oatmeal and burnt toast followed by sweet lactic cream, cocoa, caramel and toffee. Still dessert like but tastes more like a coffee beer than I anticipated. The high ABV is almost invisible making it dangerously drinkable. I would have never guessed that this beer was 10%.

Tap @Mikkeller Bar. Poured almost black color with a brown head. Aroma is heavily roasted and has some great coffee aroma as well. Flavor is enormous, greek coffee, frappé, roasted malt, dark fruits, sweet malt. The finish is bitter and dry with lots of coffee. Very easy to drink despite the ABV, session IS I´d say! Mind blowing. Have to get more of this.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 JanLaursen (2158) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - MAR 1, 2012
Draught sample at Toft Vin, Copenhagen: Pours black with a huge, creamy tan head. Roasted malty coffee and chocolate aroma. Taste is sweet, creamy, roasted and bitter. Lots of sweet coffe orasted coffee flavor with hints of chocolate and grafruit, probably from the hops. Full body, creamy smooth texture, sweetish bitter roasted coffee finish. I was told by one of the brewers that the coffee is much more powerfull and overwhelming in the bottled version. Bought a bottle. I’m looking forward to drinkin’ it.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 drjay44 (2130) - Salida, Colorado, USA - JUL 10, 2012
375 ml. bottle. Pours a thick, well retained, beige head, with extensive lacing, over a black (SRM 40) body...........nose is heavy coffee, light chocolate, hints of toffee/caramel.....taste is heavy coffee, lighter chocolate, hints of dried fruits, gentle honey like sweetness winds through, finishing with a medium, lingering coffee bitterness.......mouth feel on the heavy of medium, sticky, alcohol adds a light warmth, carbonation a creamy mouthful. The coffee and dark roasted malts dominate, and the sweetness is more obvious than in many. The net effect is a rather Mocha like beer. BJCP 8/3/15/4/7
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 mile (2113) - Helsinki, FINLAND - APR 30, 2012
Bottle. Very dark brown - almost black, average and mostly diminishing dark brown head. Moderate, malty and sweetish aroma, lots of roasted malt and coffee, light salty licorice, piney hoppyness. Body is medium to full, malty and sweetish flavor, roasted malt and coffee - light chocolate, lots of piney hoppyness. Finish is average to long, malty and sweetish, lots of roasted malt and coffee - light chocolate, lots of piney hoppyness, light alcohol. Pretty good imperial stout: Although very sweet roasted malt and hoppyness dry the finnish somehow. Too much coffee for my taste.
