3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared at Bruce’s pad, big thanks to Josh, 16/01/14.
Mid black with a good sized dirty tan head that dissipates to the edge.
Nose is liqourice, booze, big roast coffee, light spice, dark toffee.
Taste comprises decadent chocolate notes, light roast, sweet tones, muscavado sugars, light coconut, earthy coffee, touch of boozedom.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, booze laced closure.
Nice impy with good, but not OTT, coffee leanings.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
375mL bottle, pours black with a small tan / brown head. Nose brings out loads of coffee, bourbon, and roasted malt - very rich and decadent. Flavour is similar, bringing out loads of coffee and bourbon upfront, in a weird mesh that doesn’t unify perfectly but still blends nicely - there are other notes of syrup and roasted malt. Finishes on coffee, bourbon and residual sugars. Great stuff, but I preferred the regular, non-BA Goliat.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle: Served in a chouffe glass:
Medium sized light brown foamy head on top of a pitch black colored beer.
Aromas of coffee, light vinous, light bourbon, some flowers, some chocolate, herbs and some grass. Funny thing, I didn’t expect too much of this beer, since it has lots of sweet coffee tones in the normal version and I couldn’t really see why bourbon would improve this beer. It didn’t... I was too curious... Unbalanced is an understatement... It’s drinkable and it’s no terrible, but damn, I was right that Bourbon didn’t add anything positive, it even created a new beer that went into a direction that I would have never guessed or thought of.
It’s spicy of the alcohol, I taste spiritus as spiritus smells, nasty malts, some coffee and chocolate that luckily takes the beer a bit back to the straight path. If there was no coffee, no chocolate or no roast, this could have been a drain pour. There’s an unbalanced vinous note, infected wood, some nasty liquorice and some rotten wood... Quite sharp as well... Nah... This is not it...
Aftertate is malty, chocolate, older wood, bitters and some coffee... The afteraste seems to be the best of this beer... Can’t give any points for that...
Low carbo, spicy mouthfeel, full unbalanced bodied and a light creamy texture.
Aroma is ok, flavour is not good... Too much alcohol, sharp, nasty bitters, etc etc. Luckily roast is there with coffee and chocolate to make it more drinkable... Anyways, better next time!

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Eye: stunning head, black beer
Nose: liqour, chocolate, dark malts, wood, wine
Mouth: delicate sourness takes the note down, above that quite complex woody-choc-vanilla-roast mix. Quite good balance between bittermess and residual sweetness. No alcohol here
Trying the regular version is a must. This one tends to be fanstastic if only sourness could be little bit lighter.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours Black with a Brown, oily, sticky head. Aroma has lots of coffee, burned sugar and bourbon. Taste is much more smoked and chocolaty. Coco nutty bourbon profile, tar, gasoline. Really something different from the original. Very intense!
