Bottle, split at Leightons skyport, from BD Online 02/09/14. Black with a big old khaki covering. Nose is liqourice, roasty notes, dark malts, chocolate, hoppy backnotes. Taste comprises root liqourice, spice, dark chocolate, ribena berries, hoppy pangs, dark berry fruits, light roast, blackcurrant liqourice. Medium + body, fine carbonation, semi drying close with light roast and a touch of warming alcohol in the close. Decent, drinks below its ABV, very much shades of CDA in this one!

Bottle shared in London - big thanks to Cologne. Pours oily black-brown with creamy beige head. Heavy charred malt aroma with notes of baking cocoa, dried dark fruits. Medium sweet flavor with some alcohol, burnt wood, bitter cocoa, earth, raisins, leather. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Warming finish with further charred malts, overall heavy roast, some spicy burnt pine, scorched earth, dried and leathery dark fruits. Pretty decent.

Scopey (6833) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 2, 2014
Bottle thanks to Colin. It pours near black with a massive tan head. The nose is massive liquorice, umami, blackcurrant, light spice, medicinal and liquorice allsorts. The taste is bitter, roasty, earth, liquorice, blackcurrant, berry skin, earth, umami action and mild spice with a dry finish. Medium-full body, fine carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Big liquorice character if you like that sort of thing. Decent.

UPDATED: SEP 1, 2014 Bottle. Pours deep brown, with small off-white head. Aroma is someway fresh and fruity. Some acid unripe berries. Cocoa and oak. Taste is dry bitter cacao and a herby taste, that reminds me of the chili stouts. Vanilla, but not as sweet as they tend to bee. Alcohol is detectable and medium body. Finish is quite bitter and maybe the hops does deliver the fruitiness. Cocoa dryness.

Bottle. Pours black with a small beige head. Aroma is surprisingly fresh and herbal with fruity notes of something like blueberry, hiding behind the fragile cocoa base. Some boozy warmth as well. Taste is similarly fresh, considering the abv, and fruity like the aroma. As it warms, the crisp herbal sweetness that I usually associate with chili emerges and compliments the dry chocolate. A strange experience, but quite good.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a medium off-white head. Aromas of cocoa, vanilla, slight alcohol, some fruity sweet notes. Has some floral and herbal notes to it aswell. Quite hoppy. Oak comes through aswell. Taste is pretty sweet up front. Some bittersweet berries maybe? Cocoa and vanilla comes through in the finish but overall a very fruity and almost tropical stout. Very nice surprise!

Bottle at Grünerløkka Brygghus, june 15th 2014. Black body with a very nice light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, nuts, dark chocolate, alcohol and a hint of vanilla. Taste of bitter dark chocolate, strong coffee, spicy hops, alcohol sting in finish, leaving a warm boozy choco and coffee aftertaste. A good one!
