Bottle from Belmont Station, Portland. Pours a thick rich dark color, decent amount of tan/brown head. Aroma slightly smoky, roasty. Body is massive, sooo thick, honestly kind of gobsmackered. Finish is big, too, lots of booze and roastiness, but really not much spice. Fine, but not amazing. Not a bad beer, but not to the standard of most other things Ive had from To Ol.

Sampled bottle at porterveckan 2013. Black with a small brown head Very nice aroma: liqueurish with creamy chocolate. Taste: chocolate liqueur, salty licorice, cream, ashes, hot and fruity chili, honey, burnt rubber, some fruitiness. Full bodied. Felt very heavy and bitter at first, but I raised the taste to an 8 after sitting with it for a while. Nice.

SBWF. Thick black with a small creamy brown head. Aroma has smooth milk chocolate, smooth dark roasted malts, light dried fruit and a touch of chili and smokiness. Taste is sweet sticky caramel with coffee, chocolate and a touch of chili. Full sticky body and a light tickling carbonation.

On tap at Mikkeller & Friends, july 16th 2013. Black. Head is brown and creamy. Aroma of roasty coffee, licorice, light chili, dark berries, vanilla. Thick beer, good viscocity, taste of chocolate, chili, roasted malt. The chili taste is light, though marking its presence all the way, very nice blended into the taste without stealing the show. Light smoked finish, with chili still there, with lots of hops too. Malty coffee aftertaste. A very nice imperial stout.

Bottle 375ml.

Dark black colour with a small, frothy - creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige to light brown head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, brunt, wood - dry wood, moldy - fusty, chocolate. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, earthy, woody. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. There is something both in aroma and flavor i did not like but can not put a word onto what it is .. sorry guys :D [20130504]

Got the beer at Vinbin in Reykjavk. Aroma: strong hints of alcohol. Also hints of roasted coffee and chocolate. Very nice appearance. Pitch black with thick brownish head. some lacing. Taste is vanilla, some dark fruits and the chili kicks in at the end. Quite boosey. Overall a very nice beer, but not as great as some of the other imperial stouts that To l has made.
