Dark fat smooth imperial stout brewed with Chipotle, Ancho and Guajillo chillies, that adds a smokyness and a bit of acidic spicyness to the big impy stout.

Aroma: vanilla, milk, chilli, chocolate; Appearance: dark brown, minimal brown foamy head, intense lacing; Taste: intense sweetness, medium sourness, medium bitterness; Palate: long finish, thick texture, medium body, soft carbonation After a few sips the chilli peppers kick in and grab a hold on the drinker. It could be more roasted and show a thicker body. Still, it’s another exceptional brew of To Ol.

Sampler at What’s Brewing 2014, Stavanger. Clear deep mahogany body with no head. Liquorice, raisin and booze on the nose. Sweet, fruity flavors, alco warm in the mouth and notes of liquorice present. Full bodied and flat.

Bottle shared by ygtbsm94. Thanks Brad. Served alongside the cognac version. Black body with a thin, wispy, beige head. Chocolate and roast aroma with some char notes. Sweet and dry with tons of chocolate, finishing with warming alcohol. Distinctly European in style. Rich chocolate cake. I’m having difficulty picking out any chilis - perhaps they have faded. There is a subtle spice character throughout, however. Still, quite tasty. I give a slight nod to the cognac variant.

Bottle. It pours an almost black body, at least dark, dark brown in color, and with more or less no head. The aroma is on the roasted side, almost burnt, with cocoa, some dark chocolate and a boozy touch. The mouthfeel has booze at first, then the chilies go to work, playing with the tip of my tongue. Roasted malts and cocoa. Full body, oily and with a low level of carbonation. Lasting finish with some chili. Like it, but it’s too one-dimensional. In a way. 141228

Bottle. Light brown head, black otherwise. Soft roasted, slight smokey, milky nose with some green elements. Hit me first as eucalyptus, but now a bit more mellow. Full body, thick but not that oily, luckily. Intensive flavours. Some sweetness, roasted beef, leathery tones. And that green vibe again. Awesome beer. Can’t taste the abv, is dangerously easy to drink.

In short: Great IStout.
Pours black with nice tan head. Moderate head retention, good lacing. Roasty, coffee, chocolate, some burnt sugar aromas. Full bodied, soft carbonation, silky texture. Taste follows the nose, a bit spicy, alcohol noticed, smooth and extremely enjoyable. Good one, fulfills what it is expected from a beer a beer of this level.
