3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap @ Beer Temple. Black color. Sticky light brown head. Aroma’s: cocoa powder, milk chocolate, ground coffee, roast and some sweetness. Retronasal it’s quite herbal, clearly from the chili’s, which I find to be unpleasant. Flavor is moderate sweet, chocolate, roasted. Alcohol feel is strong, body is medium, the heat of the chili’s is quite mild, fortunately. Finishes roasted and moderate bitter. OK, but I’m about done with the gimmick of putting chili’s in beer. Can’t help but wondering how this would have been without.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours black with a weak beige head. Aroma is of roasted toast, bread, caramel, coffee, and some chili pepper. First of all I’d declare that I’m not one for chili stouts, I don’t think they improve the beer whatsoever, just takes over flavour, overall this felt like a really solid beer, but the chili weakens the rest of the taste for me. Taste was quite roasty, some chocolate, some bread, aftertaste of soy sauce and a kind of lingering burn that for me was just not comfortable, made it feel very dry.

1 pint on draft @ Ale & Hop Barcelona. Black with a semi-lasting thick off white foam. Smells like an imperial stout should but a bit on the alcoholic side. Taste is roasty, slightly coffee, very sweet. A bit too much for my taste. Not my cup of tea but my lovely girlfriend seems to like it.

3.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours black with a dark than head.
Nose shows coffee, cocoa, heavy bready malt, oatmeal and soft booze.
Very aggressive, heavy-hitting flavours. Massive roast, ashy notes, slightly solventy booze and liquorice. The roast and booze threaten to overwhelm everything else though. Some very soft chilli heat.
Nice creamy body.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Got the beer at Vinbúðin in Reykjavík.
Aroma: strong hints of alcohol. Also hints of roasted coffee and chocolate. Very nice appearance. Pitch black with thick brown’ish head. some lacing. Taste is vanilla, some dark fruits and the chili kicks in at the end. Quite boosey. Overall a very nice beer, but not as great as some of the other imperial stouts that To øl has made.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
0.375 bottle, thanks hanniku! Aromas of ethanol, chili and wooden pencil. Taste of coffee, taste of chili (without burnt), ethanol, licorice and hint of smoke. Full body, soft carbonation, burning alcohol in the palate. Ethanol is quite dominating, points for real taste of chili without burning sensation.
