29-DEC-2013, bottle @home, from Mikkeller & Friends. Black with a huge, dense, creamy brown head. Aroma is roast and vanilla. Taste the same. Chocolate, licorice, vanilla - even bourbon? Full body, medium carbonation. Really a big one. Very nice.

Awesome green glass wide mouth 37.5cl bottle (my favorite bottle type I think) pours with a deep dark body that supports a full thick mocha head of foam. The aroma offers up big and roasty notes like dark roasted malts and over baked chocolate brownie as well as a dash of peaty smoke. The taste begins with dark roasted malts and chunks of chocolate and then more chocolate and malt richness toward midway. This all flows into some mild notes of booze and chili pepper heat. Behind these rich smooth notes are faint yeasty spices as well as a sense of minerals. Solid smooth sipper. Wow!

375ml bottle. Pours an opaque black, with a large tan head, which lasts well and leaves good lacing. Treacle, milk chocolate, roasty malt warmth and fruity chilli create the aroma. An initial hint of treacle sweetness is soon overcome by chilli heat, which fades to milk chocolate smoothness in the mid-palate. A slight fruity flavour mixes with resurgent chilli in the finish, and there is a lingering blend of alcohol warmth and chilli heat. The chilli has been added to just the right level to complement the beer and make its presence felt without being overpowering, and works very nicely with the sweetness of the base beer. Very enjoyable.

The last bottle from mane liquor. Pitch black motor oil like pour with a tanned small head. Nice lacing left around the glass. Nose is heavy on the dark chocolate, chilli and roasted malts. First mouthful is fucking smooth, creamy mouth feel. Taste is very roasted with more hot chilli coming through. After the initial upfront chilli bite out comes the bitter coffee with milk chocolate and a small subtle burn. Impressive stuff how the burn doesn't impact on the drinkability. Very well balanced stuff. Would definitely drink this again! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours black with a damn fine looking, heavy set tan head which just sits and sits and sits there. Great lacing too. Nose shows heavy dry chocolate. Touch of spice there but not overly. Almost mocha like but not over power by the coffee. A touch simple and standard on the nose but what is there is pleasing. Taste however shows a different story. Serious dry powdered like chocolate with some pepper and spice, not chilli heat though. Thick vanilla and coffee come through but all in superb balance. Seriously unbelievable drinkability for a 12% beer. Fucking good shit!

Bottle. Pours deep opaque black with a medium brown creamy head that dissipates quite slowly and leaves nice lacing. Aroma is roasty, chocolate, a bit of tobacco and smoke, chili pepper, anise. Flavor is similar, initially sweet and roasty, bitterness coming on in mid swallow and growing to the finish. The spiciness starts as a bit of black peper, growing into a nice chili pepper warming sensation without ever becoming overpowering. Far finish leaves you with some acidic roasty bitterness and a lingering heat on the roof of the mouth and throat. Medium trending to full body, creamy mouthfeel. This is a well crafted beer.
