Dark fat smooth imperial stout brewed with Chipotle, Ancho and Guajillo chillies, that adds a smokyness and a bit of acidic spicyness to the big impy stout.

Bottle. Pours deep opaque black with a medium brown creamy head that dissipates quite slowly and leaves nice lacing. Aroma is roasty, chocolate, a bit of tobacco and smoke, chili pepper, anise. Flavor is similar, initially sweet and roasty, bitterness coming on in mid swallow and growing to the finish. The spiciness starts as a bit of black peper, growing into a nice chili pepper warming sensation without ever becoming overpowering. Far finish leaves you with some acidic roasty bitterness and a lingering heat on the roof of the mouth and throat. Medium trending to full body, creamy mouthfeel. This is a well crafted beer.

0.375l bottle. Looks amazing in the glass this one. A huge super lacing deep brown top over a near pitch black body. The nose is just as lovely as it looks. Super rich and powerful on the nose with lots of deep dark brown roasted malts, salty licorice, black burned roasted marshmallows, some sweet leather and a little bit of vanilla. Really something. It has a full-bodied thick oily mouthfeel with a soft prickling carbonation level. Lots of licorice in the taste as well. Wet rocks, a little bit of gunpowder and a lovely deep rick fruitiness. It’s just packed with flavor this one! The alcohol is also pretty well hidden until the aftertaste where it’s leaving a gentle peppery and warming feeling on back of the tongue. A lovely beverage on a lovely evening. Stack up! 23.12.2013

aroma was a mystery until i noticed the texts chipotle ancho guajillo. appearance cant get any better than this black beer with a thick dark brown head. taste is licorice , light roasted and light/medium sweetness, some wierdness from the chili. a bit of alcohol on the exhale. syrupy mouthfeel. excellent beer. only downside is a lack of strong finish. gets a +0.1 for the excellent back label.

Bottle. 12.2%. Best before 17.04.23. Pours pitch black with a khaki/brown head. Good lacing. Sweetish, slightly dusty, roasted aroma with a mild hot chili note. Feels smooth. Fruity and ’regular’ chili notes as it warms. Flavour is roasted, a bit tart and with a mild hot chili note as well. The finish is where it happens; bitter coffee, light chocolate with a chili burn and an alcohol ditto; both increasing a bit as it warms, but never becoming unpleasant. Lingering chili note. A bit too much carbonation. Overall very good; well-balanced and the chili burn is at a level which doesn’t make it unpleasant. 21.07.13.

Draft at Mikkeller & Friends. Very very dark brownish black with a medium sized mocca brown head. Lovely aroma. Seared ryebread. Sweet tobacco smoke. Vanilla. Extremely fat texture, with a gentle chili-burn tingling your tongue and cleaning the palate. Heavy roast. Full body with a smooth boozy finish. Lovely

On tap at Mikkeller & Friends, july 16th 2013. Black. Head is brown and creamy. Aroma of roasty coffee, licorice, light chili, dark berries, vanilla. Thick beer, good viscocity, taste of chocolate, chili, roasted malt. The chili taste is light, though marking its presence all the way, very nice blended into the taste without stealing the show. Light smoked finish, with chili still there, with lots of hops too. Malty coffee aftertaste. A very nice imperial stout.

SBWF. Thick black with a small creamy brown head. Aroma has smooth milk chocolate, smooth dark roasted malts, light dried fruit and a touch of chili and smokiness. Taste is sweet sticky caramel with coffee, chocolate and a touch of chili. Full sticky body and a light tickling carbonation.
