4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle (375 ml) at home. BB 03/10/23. Pitch black with a medium easy to revive creamy dark brown head, good retention, leaving some lacing. Aroma is smooth and complex with roasted malt, light chili peppers presence, mushrooms & earthy notes, dark chocolate, salty notes and a bit of oak. Taste is moderately sweet with a well dosed alcohol warmth, roasted malt, dark chocolate, hints of acidity, mushrooms, earthy notes, mild red fruits presence and hints of chili peppers. Full body. Moderate to medium carbonation. A bit liquorous, but also smooth mouthfeel. Nice warming finish, but never burning. This is way better than the regular version. More balanced (the regular is already well balanced for a chili beer) but also way more complex and smoother. Barrel isn’t overdone. Excellent barrel-aged RIS!

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Thick, gloopy and black. All the good stuff from the regular liquid confidence - heavy, roasted body with a slight chilli tingle - but with a nice sweet, woody, sherry character from the barrel ageing. Lovely.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Black (>80EBC) with a brown light creamy lasting head with thick viscosity and good lacing.
Aromas of vanilla, raisins, earthy-wood notes, sweet prunes and hints of wine aromas develop on the nose. The texture offers a light carbonation fading quickly into a solid slickness with a pronounced full body. Earthy sweetness with notes of raisin, liquorice, wood and some alcohol aromatic spice, chilli flavours develop. Complex beer with lasting chilli-roast finish.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Deep black, tan head. In aroma and flavour roasty and fruity. Nice dark chocolate and vinous/oaky notes too. The beer is far less sweet than no barrel aged version. Roasty on the finish, medium body, creamy and smooth like most To Ol dark beer. Great beer, better than normal Liquid Confidence.
