Opaque dark brown beer, small tan head. Palate is smooth and fairly dry. Modest fine carbonation. Rich licorice laden dark malts, slightly savoury. Smooth but strong coffee. Trace of dark chocolate. Dry and mildly spicy finish. Rich and tasty but a little dry.

Bottle: Shaker: Black beer. Brown head. Like it should be! Aromas of liquorice, oat, roast, sweet soy, sweet/liquorice wood roast, urine and some coffee... Flavour is a thick mix of liquorice, roast, (sweet) soy, bitters, oat, spice, bay leaf, wood roast, sweet/liquorice wood, hops, some herbs/grass, thick, dark and oily... Aftertaste is bitter, liquorice, herbal roast, herbs/grass, minerals and nutty... Low carbo, thick oily mouthfeel and full bodied. Long time no see, long time guarentee for a big bold imperial stout! Well done!

Benzai (12192) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - JUN 10, 2015
Bottle @ home. Opaque pitch black color, medium sized dark brown head that lasts for a decent while and leaves fair to good lacing. Aroma is malts, a little sweet, liquorice, lightly chocolate. Taste malts, roasted malts, dark malts, a firm bitterness with a slight sweet hint, some chocolate, a hint of hops coming through, but roast and bitter mixed with chocolate and a hint of alcohol are the main flavors. Lingering roast and bitter finish. Medium to full body, medium carbonation. Heavy and full but a nice nightcap.
