4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Spuyten Duyvil, Brooklyn 11.2oz ($12): Pours an amber color with a white head. Aroma is ridiculous amounts of resin, with almost no sugar, but plenty of earth and a bit of weirdness. Taste comes close to the excellent aroma, but doesn’t quite get up to the same level. Plenty of earth, nice amount of hop bitterness, alcohol is well-covered. Body is pretty nice as well. Excellent beer all around.

Thanks to my brother for sharing this bottle. The beer pours an orange color with a white head. The aroma is very heavy on the orange citrus with some biscuit malt thrown in. The flavor is similar. I get a lot of bitter orange and pine notes, as well as some biscuit malt. There is a little bit of funk, but it is hidden well behind the hop notes. There is a good amount of bitterness in the beer. The beer is also very dry. The alcohol is also noticeable. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Strong, hoppy aroma has good malty and yeasty notes, plus a fruity underpinning. Pours a dark, clear, bubbly amber with a thick and rather persistent ivory head. Rich flavor fills the mouth with hops, malt, yeast, a little fruit, a hint of syrup - and a noticeable, though not fierce, alcohol bite. Yes, definitely tart and funky! Firm texture has a good ragged fizz, leaving a hoppy, fruity, subtly yeasty and satisfying finish. Ov-ral, fabulous!

33 cl bottle @ home. Pours clody amber with a tiny bit of sediment and a white head that leaves a little lacing. Aroma is vinous, brett, and citrus. Flavour is fruit, brett, white wine. Has a very dry and bitter finish – I definitely believe that there’s no sugar left in this beer.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a hazy, fizzy copper with a medium, pillowy off-white head. Aroma is pungent Brett atop heavy grapefruit and citrus. Flavor is heavy on the dry funk, which obscures some delicious bright citrus and sweet tropical fruit. These more traditional DIPA elements become less perceptible over the course of the glass as a pungent spiciness takes over. Intensely dry, bitter, lasting finish. The appearance, aroma, and texture are all wonderful, but the total does not come together as nicely as I would have liked, marred by an overpowering sharp, lingering finish.

Bottle. Pours lovely cloudy, almost glowing orange color with decent white head. Aroma is hops, spicy, moldy basement, pine. Flavor is explosion of complexity. Starting sweet, followed by sour, ending bitter. Has hops, almost lambic-like sourness, spices and pine. Aftertaste is sour and dry. Excellent!
