Bottle from ØL in Walnut Creek, CA. Aroma is funky barnyard yeast, raw hay. Pours a hazy medium copper brown. Strong acidic alcohol, very little malt taste. Finishes with funky yeast.

2016/01/04 - Pours a hazy, copper colour with a thick, rocky, off white head that slowly reduces and leaves moderate lacing. Aroma is heavy caramel, dough, citrus, pine, earthy hops. Taste is moderately sweet and moderately bitter; sweet caramel, honey, bready notes, mild pine and citrus and earthy, mildly spicy hops. Maybe the slightest hint of funk? Very caramel centric. Mouthfeel is medium and sticky with smooth carbonation and a long, moderately drying, bittersweet finish. Overall, a very nice DIPA, but the sweet caramel hides any funky notes that were present.

Aroma is excellent with a heady blend of caramel, toffee, hops, brett, fruit. But
isn’t nearly so good. All the above qualities clash and the beer becomes almost undrinkable.

Sensoric. Deep amber, reddish with medium, semi-densed, white head. Medicore head retention and lacing. At first heavy caramel aroma, soapy, in the background nice funky notes. Taste is medium to high bitter with strong malty sweetness. The malty sweetness totally cover the funky brett sourness. Medium to full body, sticky and oily texture, finish is slightly bitter with malty notes (caramel). In general heavy, moderately hoppy and dominated by caramel IIPA.

Bottle. Pours thick slight cloudy amber orange with huge creamy ever-lasting head. Aroma has yammy and bready malts, fruity, dry brett, tropical fruits, pinapple, slight old hops. Taste is really fruity, tropical fruits, so creamy, full body and sweet, yet super dry. Mellow fruits. Hops, slight minty, liqourice. Bitter finish. Crazy dry finish. Slight warming alcohol.

Bottle @ DTU w colleagues. Appearance: pours slightly cloudy amber/orange with good white soapy head and lacing. aroma/taste: bread, pine, citrus and some caramel notes. palette medium to strong piny aroma, average carbonation, medium body, average sweetness, dominated by a distinct bitterness, medium to long duration and an oily texture. Overall: ok piny ipa, but not more than that

Smuggled surreptitiously (is there any other way) across the boarder from Buffalo in what I’m sure was a fake leg, by my wife. Cloud rosy-orange with off-white head. Does this thing have all the bells and whistle, or what? Wild yeast, and an I IPA. Creamy malts nose, citrus, touch of booze, a little tropical fruit - but no funk. Huh. Then you sip. Big bitter wallop, like uber-citrus pith, creamy caramel malts, hoppy perfume (big, big perfume), pine, citrus, tropical fruits with a decent sweetness underall. Lingering bitterness. Never mind the 288 beers listed here, (or the couple I didn’t rate), I have never had a beer like this before. Was expecting more brett-ish-ness, but... A recommend to everyone, just to try. But do I like it? Hell yes. Honey load up that fake leg we’re going back to Buffalo.

Bottle at Dad’s for the half marathon tasting. Pours a hazed golden amber with a thin white head. Musk, citrus, funky yeast. Malty, big yeast, funk. Long musk, funky. Long musk, lingering citrus and musk. Long citrus and funky yeast.

Tap at Gar Eden. Aroma is a bit stinky and sweaty, with some tropical fruit and lots of booze, but the taste is great. More fruit, very tropical but with a citrus sharpness. Bit of bitterness, zesty, booze is quite well hidden, it’s almost crisp. Later on some salty caramel! Really good stuff.

One of my go-to stores is selling bottles of this for a buck a piece - given that it’s a Brett IPA I figured it was worth a try, despite it’s age (I had no idea it was made a few years ago - there are several stores I can think of that still have it on the shelves) - pours kind of a pinkish copper - minimal lace - tons of chunky floaties - nose is sweet pink grapefruit, loads of musky Brett, some mild plastic phenols - flavor is fairly sweet (the commercial deScription says there is no residual sugar, so maybe the sweetness I am tasting is from the alcohol, which is fairly present in the flavor?), but balanced by dry Brett and hop bitterness - alcohol is quite evident, and burns a bit in the finish - some oxidation is present, showing the age a bit - Brett notes of pineapple, plastic, barnyard - alcohol burn in the finish, and also a bit of acetone, both of which burn the throat a bit - the aroma is the best thing about it, and even that is just okay.

Clear deep copper with a thin white foamy cap. Lovely and full complex nose with floral hops and big floral resins, like actual flowers and some potpourri and rosemary--or something herbal. Big flavorful but also dang bitter flavor featuring pine, grapefruit, grape, loads of sticky caramel, dry bretty farmhouse funk, herbal esters, maybe rosemary, more citrus and pine, some bitterness, and more funk. Loads of complexity, but also loads of bitterness. Lots of bretty funk.
