English: The sequel to the Mikkeller/To Øl collab "Overall IIPA". The same beer but with tons of nice nutty aromatic espresso coffee. This is hybrid beer if ever seen one. The combination of fruits and citrus from the hops and the round coffee aromas plus the warmth of the alcohol makes this a clash of a IIPA, Black IPA, American strong and Barley Wine. Cheers!

Poured at tasting, a cloudy darker amber. I really can’t pick out a flavor in the aroma or taste dept. Amazingly complex. In the aroma i get some coffee but not dark roast maybe green beans. Some hay, straw and malts. The taste is amazing, it has citrus IPA tones at its coldest and more earth as it warms. Coffee becomes stronger in the finish esp in the aftertaste. Syrupy in mouth feel. Wonderful, complex, interesting.

Some time back we had a number of visitors staying with us. For fun, they took turns going out and picking up varieties of beer. I kept notes about what we thought about each, but can not find them anywhere. I did find a bag of empties from that time period, so thought I would at least record those w/o commet and ratings from memory. This is one of those. (When I do find the notes it will be interesting to see how close I came)

Keg at Friends of Ham, Leeds. (Really need to get round to reviewing that place soon). Pours hazy amber with a big off-white head. Looks weiss-y actually, but the smell takes all that perception away. Big, green, unroasted coffee bean aromas. HUGE. Amazing. Like I imagine walking through a coffee plantation smells like, hands wide, crushing as you go. Taste has a good whack of bitterness in the back. An enjoyable shared half, more might be excessive.

Keg at Friends of Ham, Leeds, Saturday 15th February 2014. Pours hazy puddle brown with slim off-white head. Soft in mouth, coffee shows but sweet malts and zappy hops all bring their own elements to the party, finish is dry and robustly citrussy. Some sweet grapefruit and pithy lemon. Really nice. UPDATED: MAR 4, 2014 Okay. This is an interesting one. It doesn?t lack in substance in any category. Full of flavour Strong bouquet. Good mouth feel. Looks beautiful. With that said I don?t necessarily care for the way it tastes. I do give high marks flavour wise because I do recognize the complexity. However not my cup of tea. Update: What the fuck was I thinking? This shit tastes great.

Appearance is a nice orangey-deep tan body with full cream colored head that smells great and has decent retention. Aroma is of floral hoppiness and light sweet coffee, I also get some caramel type sweetness. The taste hides the 10.5% extremely well. I had to look at the bottle again to check the ABV. Again with the caramel/coffee sweetness alongside the great malt balance, and great earthy/floral hop character. Mouthfeel is creamier than most IPAs and it doesn’t dance on the tongue like IPAs do. I was worried about this beer being out of date, and I almost cellared this for a year to push it towards a coffee barley wine. The bottle top had a date of 8-2-14, which is over a year away, so I doubt that’s a best by date. Anywho, my first Mikkeller offering and I wasn’t disappointed. Not a stellar as the Dayman coffee IPA, but still extremely enjoyable. I look forward to coffee IPAs being a standard.

Draft at Brouwer’s Cafe. Murky burnt tangerine pour with a small eggshell cap. Very fruity with dark berry, meat, and skin prominent. Caramel, toffee, and honey providing a sweeter backbone. Mild, but noticeable coffee undertones and a grassy hop bitterness in the finish. Not a bad beer, just wish the coffee was more pronounced.
