0.375 l bottle, thanks hanniku! Reddish brown color. Aromas of red berries and tropical fruits, oak and tobacco. Thick bittersweet toffeish, nutty and oaky taste with red berries and some tropical fruits (pineapple and grapefruit) . Full body. Oakiness is slightly overboard. Rich complex taste, not completely in balance but still enjoyable.

SlackerMads (2059) - DENMARK - FEB 2, 2014
Bottle. Hazy chestnut brown with a medium sized good lacing off tan head. Perfumy nose with some caramel, not typical barley wine. Aroma is more malty than the nose; caramel, toasted malt, oak, light grain followed by fruity notes. Taste is medium/heavy sweet and bitter. Full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Smooth, warming finish.

Bottle. Poured a dark reddish brown color with a moderate frothy tan head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy complex roasted malt,, wood and dark fruit aroma. Medium to full body with a sticky texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy dark fruit sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet wood and small alcohol burn finish of moderate to long duration. This is a standout beer.

Rastacouere (6159) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 23, 2014
Highly aromatic, vinous ale with intense alcohol and juicy grapes aromas. The appearance is spectacular from the onset, a beautiful, lasting, sticky white head towering above the hazy reddish amber hue. While it’s not hugely complex for a 12%+ digestive, it manages to hit some unusual flavour ranges, amidst which stand out a gently tannic, tea-like but even more so wild rice reminiscent texture, complementing the timid hops nicely in balancing out the flavour profile... well, as much as you may consider this sweet monster balanced. On the less pleasant side, it is also fairly phenolic, featuring rosewater, clove and white Pepper nuances that are important to the flavour profile I suppose, but not the best fit to the rich maltiness. Some extra acidity would be welcome in here, as when the beer warms up, it becomes pretty hot.

Without a doubt one of the best barley wines I’ve ever tasted. Incredibly well-balanced. The Muscatel aging was very clever as it helped balance the cereal flavors and ABV and bring out the sweetness. Beautiful brew.

Scopey (8817) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 15, 2013
Bottle shared by Josh Craft Clerko. It pours hazy deep amber-brown with a medium off-white head. The nose is toasty, earth, spice, floral, must, brown bread, gingerbread, spice and Xmas cake. The taste is wood, earth, candy, fortified wine, candy, toffee, gingerbread, earth, toast, hot cross bun, vinous, gooseberry and white grape. Medium body and fine carbonation. A bit hot, but alright.

Theydon_Bois (12590) - Tourist Town (West), Berkshire, ENGLAND - DEC 14, 2013
Bottle split at CBC, thanks to Josh, 05/12/13. Hazed reddish amber with a moderate light beige covering. Nose is booze laden, punchy tropical notes, sweaty tights, touch pissoi, caramelised sugars, vague perfume notes. Taste mellows a little when contrasted to the nose, not quite as much going down but decent none the less with caramel malt base, brown sugars, dark stewed fruits, candied orange peel, red grapefruit, woody notes, red grapes. Full bodied, fine carbonation, booze evident in the finish but subtle enough throughout. Decent enough B Wine.

Leighton (13835) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 8, 2013
Bottle shared at CBC Clerkenwell in London - big thanks to Josh! Pours lightly hazy amber with a thick, off-white head. Heavy stuff. Lots of rich, ripe fruits, berries, bread and toffee. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Warming finish with some alcohol sting, dried berries, hefty bready malts. Quite sweet and intimidating on the palate but still quite tasty.
