ClubGonzo (4998) - Bergen, NORWAY - MAY 10, 2014
Bottle from Mikkeller and Friends, Copenhagen. Pours a hazy dark nougat-hued brown body with a large creamy light beige head. Aroma is caramel, toffee, booze, sweet dessert wine tones, hints of bread and brown sugar. Taste is sweet caramel, burnt sugar, raisins, bread crust, booze, bitter herbs and hints of brown sugar and astringent citric peel. Full to medium body, medium carbonation. The barrel aging seem to have removed a bit of the body on this one, as well as unveiling a rather unpleasant astringency in the bitterness. Surprisingly enough, this heavyweight from To l comes across as rather unbalanced and not very pleasant.

0.375 l bottle, thanks hanniku! Reddish brown color. Aromas of red berries and tropical fruits, oak and tobacco. Thick bittersweet toffeish, nutty and oaky taste with red berries and some tropical fruits (pineapple and grapefruit) . Full body. Oakiness is slightly overboard. Rich complex taste, not completely in balance but still enjoyable.

Bottle. Hazy chestnut brown with a medium sized good lacing off tan head. Perfumy nose with some caramel, not typical barley wine. Aroma is more malty than the nose; caramel, toasted malt, oak, light grain followed by fruity notes. Taste is medium/heavy sweet and bitter. Full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Smooth, warming finish.
