Bottle. Deep amber colour. Suprising fresh citrus, gooseberry, hoppy nose with bready malts, some huskyness. Full soft body, really nice texture. Some sweetness, but nice bitters. Light plummy malts. Soft. Nice. This isn’t really a traditional barley wine, more of a hoppy thing with BW-y malts.

Bottled. Orangeish pour. Sweet malt caramel yeast mustiness and citrus. Pretty good barleywine.

Bottle... Mostly-clear deep orange pour with a small, creamy, off-white head. Good retention. The nose is very subtle, but I am finally able to pull a restrained note of caramel and a medley of citrus fruits from the glass. Full-bodied and chewy with tingly carbonation. The flavor presents caramel and toffee flanked by a bittersweet finish and lengthy aftertaste. Bottle courtesy of Plovmand!

375 ml bottle @ Cardinal. Unclear orange body with a small and fast disappearing off-white head. Relatively mild in aroma, malt and berries. When the glass is warming up a bit I get some orange marmalade as well. Flavor is very sweet malt, caramel, orange marmalade, zest, some berries, alcohol and moderate bitterness. Full body and average in aftertaste. Too sweet for me, will probably age well.

375ml bottle in a tulip. Pours deep brown with a lacy, cream-colored head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, and light nuttiness from the malts, a little bit of floral hoppiness, some fruits, and some sweetness. Flavor the same with a nice blend of the malts. Average to smooth texture. A decent barley wine, but could be more complex.

Botella de 37.5 cl en el lúpulo. 24-01-2014. En el momento. Color cerezo no muy turbio con numerosos posos y espuma marfil persistente. Cuerpo fuerte con predominio de sensación alcohólica. Aromas a caramelo tostado ligeramente especiado. Sabores algo dulces de caramelo y maltas, con gran sensación de licor que aumenta según va calentando. Regusto final bastante amargo para una barley wine. Bastante buena ya va la segunda botella y cada vez es mas impresionante. Muy buena.

Bottle poured into a large snifter. Deep hazy amber brown with about an inch and a half of cream-tan head. Head held well and formed a nice thin layer on top and a hick collar. Phenomenal lacing. Aroma is really toasty/bready, some good sweet caramel, and earthy/woody hop. Taste is somehow inverted from the aroma, British hops, caramel and then the toast at the end; but the aftertaste turns back into the caramel sweetness. Good body: medium to almost full. Medium-low carbonation.

Draft. Poured a dark orange brown color with a moderate frothy tan head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy complex roasted malt, complex dark fruit aroma. Medium to full body with a sticky texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy dark fruit sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet and small alcohol burn finish of moderate to long duration. This is a standout beer.

375 ml bottle. Served in a DFH snifter, the beer pours an orange/brown color with about an inch light tan head that sticks around a little while. There’s also a decent amount of lacing. The brew smells like caramel malt, brown sugar, candied/dried fruit, and some light citrusy and grassy hops. The taste is similar to the aroma, it tastes like caramel malt, brown sugar, candied fruit, grapes, toffee, and a bit of grassy hops. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s a little syrupy with moderate carbonation. I think this is a good brew, I liked it. It’s pricey at $10.99 a bottle, but still worth a try at that price.

Draft in a sampler at Ei8ht Ball. Pours a cloudy, dull orange color with a small off-white head that laces the glass. Aroma of caramel malts, honey, tea leaves, bubblegum, brown sugar, and dates. Flavor is the same, with more hop and booze presence. Medium-bodied, with a sweet, boozy mouthfeel and modest carbonation. Not my kind of barley wine.
