3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle 37,5 cl. Courtesy of Ungstrup. Pours amber with a slight haze and a creamy off-white head. Caramellish nose with some citrusy hops and a spicy edge. Solid body, very caramellish, somewhat estery, powerful and sweet but never cloying. Even though the hops aren’t crisp they manage to balance the sweetness throughout. Enjoyable. 031212

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
375mL bottle, pours a hazy dark amber with a medium beige head. Nose is full of dark fruits, toasted nuts, caramel malts and a healthy hop dose. Flavour is unique, unlike any barley wine I’ve had before, with butterscotch, some interesting herbal notes I can’t quite put my finger on, some caramel malts, and a big resinous hop punch. There is a very noticeable boozy kick, with an acetic finish. Full-bodied, but very hoppy, with a lot of booze. Decent stuff.

Hazy red-amber color, with medium sized creamy head. Different aroma, moderately pungent, strange hop mix (light), not strong. The caramel and malt flavor is decent, but not rich and sweet as typical Barley Wines; it has a toffee note too, and strong bitterness, with good resins and some fruity side, and moderate alcohol perception. Medium long final.
The malt profile is between a Barley Wine and an English Strong Ale, well hopped obviously; and professionally brewed, clean; but not exciting.
