Deep rich amber and brown coloured body with a nice, one centimetre tall tan big-bubbled head. Aroma of alcohol, peat, toasted malt, pit fruits, raisins, toffee, scotch and a bit of nuts - very nice and complex. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong hoppy flavour noticeable at first with a great balance of pit fruits, raisins, alcohol, oak, brandy and some dry grassy notes at the end. Aftertaste shows a very well-balanced complexity with equal parts of malt and hops, but a very nice nutty, earthy, caramel and dry oaky flavour all noticeable. Overall, a good barley wine with a nice complexity and a smooth sweet flavour that works out quite well. I sampled this 37,5 cL split bottle purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 30-December-2012 for US$10.59 sampled at home in Washington on 08-November-2013.

Bottle. Pours with a one-finger head. Aroma of strong vanilla, root beer hard candy, banana, and caramel and toffee. Tastes strong vanilla on the front, strong yet muted malt backbone, burnt caramel, strong alcohol and and bitter notes on the back end. Mouthfeel is much more carbonated than expected which makes it seem a bit thinner than it is. Overall, a very good barleywine.

A great complex taste, lots of character there. Hops, sweetness and the remarkable taste of barley that leaves that spicy finish that we look for in barleywine. The thing with this beer is that it doesnt seem to deal well with the oxygenation. Aroma goes fast, even if initially interesting (flowers, hay, vanilla). The same for appearence. Hazy and brown, but with virtually no head and inexisten lace. Still, this makes a good good brew, but there is best barleywines out there.

375 ml. bottle poured in to a snifter. Dark, hazy amber colour with a dense, lightly tan head. Extra credits for the label/name and the Winston Churchill quote on the back label. Sweet aroma with rich caramel malts, dark, dried fruits, blue cheese, spicy and citrus hops. Taste is medium to heavy sweet. Full body with an oily texture and a soft carbonation. Finishes bitter with hops, rich caramel malts and a discrete burn from alcohol. Fine Barley Wine the American way.

12.7oz bottle, shared with caterwaul. Purchased from Party Source around 6 months ago. Cap reads "9851206". Mostly hazy amber, red color. Thin khaki head. Decent spread of lace. Bigger body. Smooth, kind of creamy lighter carbonation. Sort of slick, little drying in the finish. Smooth and easy drinking, especially for 12.5%. Alcohol is well-hidden, just a slight warmth in the finish. Moderate sweet, light bitter. Dark fruit, vinous notes. Good earthy hop. Extra points for being so smooth, for the high ABV.

Sampled draft @ Borefts 2013. I think that I had “Our is bigger than all of your” which I am assuming is the same beer as this one, if I am wrong let me know. Dark fox rhubarb brown, white bubbles. Nose is sweet malts, sticky raspberry, bit jam, toffee, thick marmalade, sweet spices, candy sugar,… Taste is thick raspberry, syrupy, alcoholic raspberry sticky, touch booze, candy sugar, thick caramel, very sticky malts, dark fruits, touch molasses,… Thick, sticky malt body. Great stuff.
