This is our attempt of substituting the morning mochaccino coffee with a beer. You get the nicely roasted chocolate malts, some creamy lactose for the milk and a shot of nutty espresso coffee in your mug. And then some alcohol, it seemed just as obvious as vodka in a white russian. We do not recommend opting for this beer instead of coffee (all the time...) – Original “The Monday Morning Mochaccino Messiah”

Ingredients: Water, Malted barley, flaked oats, lactose, Hops (Simcoe, Citra, Nelson Sauvin, Centennial), coffee and Yeast.

Tap at Roundhouse with Alex. Translucent brown cocoa pour with some tannish head. Aroma is powerful coffee with some chocolate underneath - very coffee-like, more so than many stouts. Taste follows - delicious chocolate and coffee flavors with a healthy amount of bitterness from the hops. Smooth palate without being too rich. Really nice brown ale, one of my favorites.

Pours a dark brown color, topped with a decently sized and stable tan colored head. Lovely aroma, combination of coffee and chocolate, with some subtle grassy notes in the back. Taste is mildly sweet at first, a milky feel, a tad of bitterness with nice gentle coffee finish that lingers a bit in your mouth. Nice one, not too strong with not too excessive coffee presence. Very tasteful.

Bottle from the Grumpy Goat in Reading. Plenty of body, slightly spiced with a strong hop character. I didn’t really get the coffee flavours I was expecting from this. Its nice and tasty but doesn’t have a ’wow’ factor.

From tap at Billies Bierkafetaria in Antwerp. Thick and frothy, dense, yellowish white head over a dark mahogany brown beer, notably darker than average for an Anglo-Saxon brown ale. Aroma of dried leaves, caramel, roasted pine nuts, cured meat, toasted or even burnt bread, dried berries, haemoglobin iron. Subdued candied sweetness in the onset, soft deep sourishness balancing it, soft carbo, dark fruits but in a clean way, nice caramelly, nutty and toasted maltiness, supple, filling with a coffeeish roasted accent in the background, firm leafy herbal and leafy, spicy hop bitterness in the finish, very long and drying, aromatic and clearly a lot more outspoken than normal for a brown ale. Very good beer, but not true to style at all, this almost feels like a black IPA in certain respects. But, more importantly: very good beer indeed.

Bottle at home. Aroma is coffee beans, hazelnuts, espresso, hint of chocolate, hops, malt, some citrus. Flavour is moderate sweet and medium bitter. Body is medium. Surprisingly hoppy espresso coffee beer with the nuttiness of a Brown Ale, tasty!

UPDATED: DEC 15, 2015 Dark brown color with light brown head. Aroma has dark malts and sweet coffee. Taste is slightly sweet at first with really nice coffee notes and the finish is roasty and bitter. Body is soft but also well carbonated. Really good brown ale with nice coffee notes.
