This is our attempt of substituting the morning mochaccino coffee with a beer. You get the nicely roasted chocolate malts, some creamy lactose for the milk and a shot of nutty espresso coffee in your mug. And then some alcohol, it seemed just as obvious as vodka in a white russian. We do not recommend opting for this beer instead of coffee (all the time...) – Original “The Monday Morning Mochaccino Messiah”

Ingredients: Water, Malted barley, flaked oats, lactose, Hops (Simcoe, Citra, Nelson Sauvin, Centennial), coffee and Yeast.

(33 cl bottle from Bjergtrolden) Pours dark brown with medium, tan head and heavy lace. Decent retention. Aroma is ashtray and coffee. Oily texture, medium body, soft carbonation and bitter, roasted finish. Taste is not sweet, roasted and a slightly herbal bitterness. Aroma less pleasant than the espresso "stout" but the taste is slightly more pleasing. Head gets nicely creamy when you swirl the beer around in the glass a bit. Nice touch. Girlfriend says: "I prefer the other one."

Tap@Fermentoren, CPH - pours a deep amber brown colour, with a small beige head. Roasted malty with choc, caramel and nutty, light hoppy and coffee nuances throughout. Ok.

Bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - dark brown with a hint of red. Nice head. Nose - hazelnuts and a raw coffee bean note. Taste - more nuts but coffee very bitter. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a relatively fresh finish but unfortunately the coffee is far too much. Overall - coffee too dominant which makes the beer really one dimensional and slightly unpleasant in some ways. This doesn’t work for me.

Bottle. Aroma fruity, plums, quite strong coffee. Roasted, burnt. Dark brown colour. Taste has quite high amount of coffee, which does not work with me, due to flavour resemblance to spent coffee remains. Some complementary sweet fruitiness. Moderate body. Better drinkability than expected.

Flaska. Bledo hneda farba. Vona a chut ako zalievana kava. Na zaciatku chuti opat zalievana kava, neskor horka cokolada a jemna horkost. Prilis vsak preraza alkohol.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein dunkelbraunes Bier mit schöner Schaumkrone. Geruch röstmalzig, fruchtig, Kaffeebohnen. Geschmack röstmalzig, fruchtig, Karamell, Kaffee, leicht herber Abgang.

On tap @ M&F. Pours a dark brownish color with a beige head. Aroma of coffee and chocolate. Taste is of roasted malt, coffee, sugar and hops. Medium carbonation. The coffee dominates the flavour - especially in the aftertaste. Overall very sweet and balanced. Just not a big fan of coffee.

THis works very well. I’ve had coffee IPAs and and obviously coffee stouts but never a coffee brown ale before. But it seems the coffee taste (pretty noticeable) fits well here with the sweet roasted malt. Some great hops in there too.
