"Sometimes when you’re drunk you can see better."

This is the lager. This is the pilsner, the lager, the bottom fermented beer. This is the Captain on the deck, one of the lone lagers cruising on the ocean of ale. To Øl actually loves lager type beers, and sometimes lagers is missed out because of the many great ales present. Problem is that most people who brew lagers apparently has a taste of old dusty piss yellow obnoxious stale impotent beers. So now was the time to stir things up and tell the people how you can do a super hoppy, well balanced pilsner type beer!

Tap@AIBF2014. Pours golden with a rich head. I did detect corn in the aroma, but the American hops did manifest themselves in the taste. A surprisingly rich pine aroma for a lager. Medium bitter finish.

An excellent lager with a lot of citrus hops flavours. To Øl is always getting points with me. Could have more Alcohol.

Bottle from Wine Emporium May 2014. Good colour for a lager, not pale and pasty. Big white head and grain aromas.

maekchu (2836) - Hirakata, JAPAN - NOV 4, 2014
Bottle from Akiyama Liquor Store (Kochi). Slighlty oxidized nose (drink by date is Nov. 2014), with some peach, earth, and light citrus hopping. Dark amber/gold color. Hop hit in initial, goes to some light bitter fruitiness, and then more citrus hops in mid and final. Thin, light body, and a bit dry in finish. Tasty. But probably no the best bottle of this batch. Not really reminiscent of any pils I’ve had.

Bottle, Beer Moth, Manchester. Liking the mission statement on the above deScription. Clear orange pour with a small white head. Great tropical fruity hoppy beak. Flavour was crisp, citrus, hoppy and fruity. Really drinkable. As premium lagers go this is a damned good one. Why not make Stella illegal and force the masses to drink this stuff instead ? The world might just be a better place.

Subdued aroma gives little hint of the hop forward balance of flavour. Bitter finish quickly dissipates and makes one want another taste.

Bottle from Stockmann (€ 3,90) in Tallinn. BB 03.2016. Love the label, looks like a Damien Hirst design. Pours a beautiful hazy dark amber with a big off-white top - retains and laces superbly. Nose - splendid lemony-grapefruity-tangeriny-musky-malty bittersweet. There is however a slight note of dank grassiness in the background. Eventually I also get a hint of Nelson Sauvin, after having swirled it quite a bit. Taste begins with malty and succulent fruity sweetness and follows with a more hop-pronounced grapefruity bitterness; finish is very straightforwardly bitter, even roughly so. Medium body and carbonation, palate somewhat grainy and dry. A very bold brew.

I’ve enjoyed this tremendously in the past, but not so much this time.

Smells sourly and botanical, association to lemon grass and sauerkraut. Very hoppy in taste, without being too much of a good thing. The bartender considered it a hoppy lager; but it tastes more like hops than of lager. And that is okay.

Sample from bottle @ Brill, 6/10-14. Orange amber, mostly clear and with a dirt white head. Grapefruit, lychee, caramel, grains, pine and some hints of fart. Taste is medium dry and hoppy fruity with grapefruit and lychee, caramel and grains and pine needles. Medium bodied, soft tickling carbonation, slight oily. I get a bit disturbed by the caramel presence. And the sulfur note.
