English: The day after your tour de force in the world of alcohol, where good manners has been thrown over the shoulder, the liver has been punished and the dance floor hasn’t looked better since John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever, ones physical and mental state needs to get in gear for another week of tedious paperwork. You need something to cleance your tastebuds from the taste of the cheap slave tequila. You need something to recover you safely and give you a renewed love and zest for life. In simple terms, you need a really good recovery beer (in danish "Reparationsbajer"). The problem is that there are few perfect recovery beers! Nauseous mass produced lagers are the last thing you want to think about after you have been making a few calls in the great white telephone. This is why To Øl for a long time has had the goal to develop a recipe for the perfect recovery beer. This has resulted in a lot of tough empirical field work combined with a great amount of brewing. After a years of hard work all results have been gathered and the conclusion is clear: The best way to remove your hang overs is with a potent Pale Ale with powerful and aromatic American and New Zealand hops to give your tastebuds a cold turkey combined with a nice round, pleasant and well-balanced malt profile to massage the palate and reinforce the belief that one shall survive another day! And that’s why we present for you To Øl Reparationsbajer.

Bottle from Theatre of Wine, Greenwich. Light amber pour with a fluffy beige head. Tropical fruit, peach and raspberry aroma. Flavours of sweetcorn, bitter citrus and some summer fruits. Bitter finish. Tasty.

330ml bottle from Archive Beer Boutique. This is one seriously good looking beer with a great toffee caramel colour and a layer of white foam that hangs around. Loads of caramel and malty aromas with a flavour that mirrors the aroma.

Bottle from mane liquor. Pours an orangey brown with a small fluffy white head. Aroma is quite a strong pine hop and grapefruit smell, also smells quite sweet. Taste is piney and resinous hops with a possible caramel like lingering bitterness. One of the better APA’s I’ve had.

Grifo. Vaso de ½ pt. Saboreada en feb´13. Color latón mate y apariencia algo velada. On-tap. ½ pt glass. Enjoyed on feb´13. Deep brass in color, chill haze appearance. Off-white froth, copious head, rings & spots on sides. Hints of leather, toasted malt & herbal notes. Sharp piney hops & bitterness at first sip. Mild toasted malts come to balance but loose the match. So resins & pine needles linger into a long finish. Medium body. Medium carbonation.

Draft. Pours opaque bronze with a small white head. Aroma is petroleum, caramel, very hoppy, grapefruit, pine, knækbrød. Taste is light+ sweet and bitter. Body is light, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. Finishes with a fine malty note and hops. Something seems rough about the hops.

Tap. Unclear red amber with a small lasting off white head that leaves some lacing. Aroma is petroleum, grapefruit, knækbrød, caramel, fruity. Taste is light+ sweet and light+ bitter. Medium body, light texture, soft+ carbonation. Dry light bitter and light sweet finish. Good, but I prefer and recommend +10 abv beers for hangovers.

33cl bottle. - Oh sacrilege: drunk from the bottle on a crampy 5h bus ride home from the Cologne Karneval (unvoluntary). Hence, no indications on appearance, but ready to be restored/(ferdig til at vaere reparered) I was - det var jeg! This is a test tube American Pale Ale to admire, like in many ways Scandinavian adaptations of US formulae are adaptations to admire: Just like ABBA and Aqua’s "Barbie Girl", this hoppy PA takes all elements from a successful US formula and reproduces them under laboratory conditions for North-Europa. Nice resin bitterness, smooth mouthfeel and very fine dry and malty-sweet palate, some floral but not fruity notes: this ticks every box of what you’d expect from a perfectly executed APA but adds nothing extra. I’d shy away from comparisons with specimen from the Scandinavian female fauna, but having lived in Koebenhavn I’d venture forth: went down smoothly, but also somewhat clinically: craft to admire, not much unique personality to love. (It’s karneval: puns by the bucket!)

330 ml bottle. Viisi Penniä, Helsinki, Finland. Hazy golden colour with small off-white head. Strong piney and resiny hoppy aroma with mild fruity sweetness. The flavour is grainy and caramel malt and resiny hops, moderate bitterness and some sweetness. This is rather nice even if I'm not having a hangover. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle 0,33L. Hazy orange colour with off white head. Hoppy aroma dominates - Amarillo hops and Nelson Sauvin hops are the reasons. A lot of grapefruit. mango and lemon in taste. Very well balanced beer. Bitter, but not too bitter with soft touch of sweetness.
