   AROMA 5/10   APPEARANCE 4/5   TASTE 5/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 11/20
ChainGangGuy (4486) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - MAR 26, 2015
Appearance: Pours a clear, mahogany-hued body. Though there is an initial surge of suds, it soon drops to a sustained off-white cap. Light lacing.

Smell: Toasted malts awash in alcohol, ultra faint caramel, scant fruitiness and a woodsy, earthy, spicy vibe.

Taste: Liberally toasted bread and grains, though not particularly sweet. Peppery coarse alcohol from sip-one. Touch of tannic cherryskins. Earthy yeastiness with a muted albeit sustained spice tone. Light bitterness through to the dry, hot finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied with a minor stickiness to the mouthfeel. Medium-low carbonation.

Overall: A slow, hot sipper, and a disappointing one at that.

Pours hazy reddish brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, dark dried fruits, grass, alcohol and hint of christmas spices, Taste is medium to heavy sweet and light bitter with a long warm, dried fruity and spiced finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Bottle, 75cl. It pours an unclear dark golden-orange body and a big, dense, off-white head leaving lacings. The aroma is lightly sugary, with peaches, some pine cones, resins and a grassy touch. Alcohol notes. It’s full-bodied, warming and with a soft but high level of carbonation. Fruityness, peaches, resins, grass and some white sugar in the flavor. Nice bitterness. Lasting finish with a fine bitterness. Too much boozyness in this one, but it’s a quite fine beer anyway, doing well with some cheese. 150314

Smells like wonderful Christmas with sweet toffee and spruce and plum. But the flavor is big bitter and pine and a slightly sour twang. Much more bitter and piney than necessary.

12/18/14. 750mL bottle thanks to cbfobes. Murky red amber pour with a TON of floaties depending on your pour all under a small tan head that sticks. Fruity aroma, lightly tropical, maybe a hint of Brett? Caramel in the flavor, sugary, fruity, not bad.

750ml bottle split with drowland, pours a hazy dark copper with an egg shelled white head with some floaties in the glass as well, aroma is sweet with quite a bit of candy sugar coming through, the flavor has a super sweet front end with a caramel like finish, abv is tasted and isn’t all that hidden, interesting.
