4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle (75cl) from Vinmonopolet (Vika), Oslo. Gorgeous copper/amber colour, slighly hazy. Half-inch offwhite sticky head, good retention, leaves a stable band of lacing. Aoma of concentrated fruit (apple, pear, fig, banana), malt, yeast, rosé pepper. Medium/full body, soft carbonation. Sweet and spicy taste, nicely balanced by fruity acidity and mild bitterness. Quite subtle christmas-ness, but certainly working for me.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
The beer pours an orange color with a medium head and nice lacing on the glass.
The aroma offers some caramel, some candied orange rind (is that a thing?), some leafy hops, & some nice spiciness.
The flavor is really pretty boozy, it’s got some citrus rind & leafy hoppiness. It’s sort of reminiscent of an American barleywine in it’s malt character and hopping level, but the hops are leafy and earthy, and it’s without a doubt a very Belgian yeast forward beer. Seems like from what I just said that it’d be a mess, but it’s enjoyable.
