Draft at the Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2012. Pours black with a creamy, beige head. Plenty of burnt wood and peat in the nose, mild dark chocolate and some dark fruits. Big sweet flavor, nice dark cocoa character, peat, mild smoke, burnt wood, lovely dark fruit tones. Full bodied with fine carbonation. War finish, pleasant whiskey and fruit, dark raspberry preserves. Rich and sweet but really not too cloying. Some brown sugar and burnt wood linger. Quite superb.

Wow, this is indeed a beast of a beer. A very sweet, full and fat/creamy stout with more than a hint of whisky (perhaps a bit too much, though), and coffee too. Visually its pitchblack and has a nice brown foam. It has a good taste - very rosty, and the aftertaste doesnt stay too long, but it tastes good and you can certainly feel all of those 13.1% in the bottle. :-) It was a great stout, but at this price its not a beer Ill try again...but I know Ill be talking about it for years.

0.33 l bottle. Black color. Sweet aroma of salty licorice, raisins, oak, vanilla and perfumed slightly boozy alcohol. Sweet and roasty taste with salty licorice, grassy coffee (in a positive way), raisins, gentle oak, vanilla and balancing bitterness. Full body, warming alcohol and wood in the palate. Really tasty beer with good level of oak, roastiness, bitterness and sweetness.

Botella en casa. Pitch black colour with a nice medium steady brown creamy head leaving a good lacing indeed. Lovely roasted malty sweet dark fruity chocolate licorice vanilla aroma. Good thick well filling mouthfeel. Flavour has lots of roasted malt, a good sweetness, chocolate and coffee, dark fruit, licorice, vanilla, wood and alcohol.

500 ml bottle, courtesy of Peermac. Black body with a big brown head. Strong aroma of sweet, dark malt, lactose, coffee and dark chocolate. Did not find so much whisky/cask notes. Flavor is sweet, dark malt, molasses, coffee, bitterness and alcohol. Full body and strong aftertaste as well. A rock solid strong stout on the sweeter side.

(33 cl bottle from Toft Vin) Pours pitch black with a luscious, brown head. Impressive lacework. Aroma is whisky and booze with notes of oak and a hint of something smoked. Thick, creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation, full body, long sweet and warming finish. Taste is more sweet than bitter with not many roasted or ascorbic notes at all. In short its a very smooth taste and integrates the fearsome ABV quite well. Dangerously drinkable although it doesnt seem like there is much complexity in it beyond the whisky aroma and creamy mouthfeel. Reminds me a bit of the Amager Pop but with sugar added. Girlfriend says: "Its not bad. Its strong but it has an interesting, sweet taste."

33cl bottle from Dranken Geers.
