4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 CanIHave4Beers (2495) - Des Moines, Iowa, USA - JAN 21, 2013
Pours black with a small head and good lacing on the glass.
The aroma is rich and roasty with some whiskey and plum. Sweet smelling in a nice way... perhaps a touch overbearing on booziness... but inviting never the less.
The flavor is rich and sweet, highly roasty with a very nice level of bitterness. I assume this was aged in Scotch Barrels given that it was brewed at Brewdog coupled with the spelling of "Whisky" But the beer is sweet enough and there is enough perceived vanillin to trick the mind into thinking bourbony thoughts. The beer has a lto of dark fruit flavor and it’s all around pretty huge and boozy.
Thick on the palate, but not unpleasantly so.
Pretty nice stout, but I think at 13+abv the addition of milk sugar is likely not enough to really designate this as a "sweet stout" as opposed to an Imperial Stout....

Ufff. Big beer and you can feel it from the aroma and the palate instantly. I loved it. It feels creamy an soft on the tongue at first, and then a powerful explosion of tastful coffee and malt. The sensation is hard to explain it in words. Just get one and experience it yourself!

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 sheep (93) - FINLAND - DEC 18, 2012
330ml bottle. Reviewed from notes. Pours pitch black with a nice, fluffy intense dark brown, slightly reddish head. Perfect. Nose is filled with chocolate, roast, a hint of caramel, slightly oaky vanilla, some heat. Taste is big roast, alcohol and sweet bbq-sauce with ashy smoke in the finish. Mouthfeel is soft, creamy, slightly syrupy and crisp with medium carbonation. Nice, wouldn’t mind a little more of the whisky barrel in the taste though.
