4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Wow. Huge beer that drinks like a hoppy imperial stout. The hops are really leafy and green and the chocolate malt body is a delight. Highly skillful.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Keg at PSBH, Manchester. Black with thin tan head. Zingy citrus candy, red fruit, liquorice hints from the malt. Big bitter bite. Definitely the most interesting hop experience I’ve had in some time. Carb is a bit high. Good stuff, sticks to the black IPA formula but these galaxy hops clearly give it something unique.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap @ Goodbeer Faucets, Shibuya. Pours pitch black with a small foam head - that is leaving a beautiful lacing on the glass. Aroma - first it feels like a bubble bath, sweet and candy-like, lively. Later roast malt profile emerges with some hop freshness. Taste is like a proper black IPA should have - it has a good balance of roast malt bitterness, bitter chocolate and molasses - balanced with fragrant hopped bitterness. Some pine needles and even a bit resiny. Nicely balanced and very well made. Great beer to sip, it took me an hour to finish a pint.

Tap at The Jeffrey. Pours deep dark brown with big head that dissipates quickly. Nose is chocolate and slight sour milk in a good way. Rates of plums, licorice, chocolates, roasted malt. Creamy mouthfeel and light chalk after tastes. Pretty nice beer

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Rakuten that was a slow gusher. A pitch black pour with a huge fizzy beige head. Great staying power & giant foamy lacing coats the glass. The aroma is musty dank oily resin with some light fruity citrus notes. Medium to medium-light bodied with a smooth mouthfeel. The taste is top knotch, hop resin + pine bitterness, big chocolate punch from the malts before ending with a fruity citrus bite. A truly great Black IPA that is exactly what I want from this style, both hops & dark malt notes.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
750 ml bottle from ArtigianBeer, served in a pint glass. Dark brown, with some red tinges, and a nice, frothy and persistent light beige head. Dank and hoppy aroma, citrus, tropical fruits, resin, pine needles, with just a hint of roasted malts. Much more "dark" in the mouth, with notes of coffee and chocolate emerging slowly after the first few sips. Light astringency, and moderate bitterness, quite balanced aftertaste with both resiny and coffee notes. Unfortunately a bit too much carbonated, light to medium body and creamy texture. Expected a bit more, but a solid beer, no doubts about that.
