Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; dark brown pour with big frothy beige head, roasted malt and pine hop aroma, taste has a decent amount of piney resinous hop with some glorious roasted malts and coffee, a hint of grapefruit moderate bitterness, wonderful mouthfeel, this is one of those beers where your glad you had a 750 to yourself.

750ml bottle. Black colour with average to huge, frothy, fully lasting, moderately lacing, off-white head. Hoppy aroma has grapefruit notes, roasty dark malty background. Taste is roasty dark malty, bitter hoppy overtones, hints of grapefruit, the peppery spicy melange of bitter hop and roasty malt brings typical notes of green onions.

Growler. Black with a large light tan head thatís never less than a coat. Aroma of overdone breadcrusts, passionfruit, grapefruit, lychees. Sweet with bread crusts, molasses, licorice, an ashy/ burnt note thatís quite heavy, tropical fruit. Fairly strong bitterness. Dissonance is a kind of harmony up to a point (somewhere close by) - but this is interesting, tasty and hangs together just about enough.

A clear dark brown ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, smooth fruity chocolate malt, with nice floral hops, light licorice, nice. In mouth, a nice bitter chocolate with coffee grind, musty character, grassy floral hops, nice. On tap at TÝrst.

So as it turns out Italian can make a proper Belgian saison (as opposed to Americans), because this almost clean yellow golden body reveals a very delicate and yet elaborate Belgian ale with interesting farmy yeast. Classically hopped, but rich so, quality light malts, and a good yeast presence to go with it. Tasty. However (there is always something to complain) itís a bit too light in palate. A bit more caramel malts and itís really good. (75cl bottle from Dranken Geers)
