COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

37.5cl bottle from Geers, BB 04/2026, lot# L11026.

Christian (9697) - Odense, DENMARK - OCT 2, 2012
FC Nordsjælland vs. Chelsea FC Champions League football night tasting in Odense, October 2012. Chestnut colour with a tiny off-white head. Malty rich aroma with caramel, figs and dats, molasses and sherry. Sweet vineous malty and fruity flavour. Still and a bit thin, lacking in complexity (compared to the world class inspirational beers)

Bottle @ Odense Tasting, Oktober 2012. Pours ruby amber with a bubbly head. Nose is dried fruit, alcohol and mild spices. Soft with a low carbonation. Warming alcohol. It’s tasty but perhaps it lacks a bit in complexity. Sticky and oily.

Small yellow-beige head over fully muddy red-brown beer, not very lively. Very vinous nose, as red wine or red fruit wine; old oak, alcohol and fusels. Chocolate & liquorice aromas. Warm, richly vinous and chocolate flavours with some discreet velvety hop notes. Lots of fusels, and somewhat agressive alcohol/acids mix. Very slick, oily, viscous, lot of alcoholwarming; velvety in the mouth and heating in the throat at the same time. Not half bad - and double better than the Islay Malt version.

Bottle from Pazzeria, Milan
Cloudy brown color, mostly flat. Very strange aroma of ripe fruits, almost rotten fruits, dates maybe; with very light fudge; it gets a bit interesting only later. Good body strength; very sweet caramel and malt flavor, with a touch of vanilla, light cookies, with relatively low bitterness and some alcohol warmth.
There are two families of Barley Wines, English and American, and this is neither of those; it doesn’t have character, and it’s mostly like a malt soup.

Bottle, thanks fiulijn! Hazy mahogany colour, no head. Plenty of caramel that covers the strawberry fields below. Sweet and full bodied with soothing mouthfeel. Spun sugar and caramel, soft with very mild warmth. Some bitterness in a finish shared alike between caramel white pepper, honey, cardboard and satin.

Bottle 375ml.

Unclear medium to dark brown amber colour with a small, frothy - fizzy, virtually none lacing, fully diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, dried dark fruit, wood, moderate hoppy, orange - grass. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcoholic. [20120613]

37,5cl bottle. Brown liquid with no head. Nose : strong burned caramel, alcohol, some cherries. It smells a bit like a whysky with some chocolate. Sip : thick body, liquor like. Oily texture. No carbonation. Sweet and burned caramel feeling, alcohol is warming. It’s my first time I try a barley wine so I’m not use to it yet. I have no comparison for the moment so this one is just gonna get some extra points for being my first time. I do enjoy it but next time I’m gonna buy a barley wine , it’s a big chance it’s gonna be in winter.
