750ml bottle shared with 3 friends. Very dark beer. Lots of off white creamy head. Very smokey in the aftertaste.

Bottle from De Bierkoning. Black with a creamy, beige head. Potent smoked malts aroma. Meaty, smoked malts flavours. A beer that would earn good points even in Bamberg.

3/VI/2012 - on tap @ Moeder Lambic, Italian Beer Festival (2012-582)

Clear dark brown to black beer, aery beige head, dissipates quickly, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: lots of smoke, mocha, coffee, overripe to rotten fruits. MF: no carbon, medium body. Taste: little sour upfront, some mocha, dark chocolates, berries, bit of mocha. Aftertaste: lots of smoke, charcoal and ashes, sour berries, earthy.

Bottle 75 cl from erzbierschof.ch. Practically black with aromas of torrefied malt, some leather and smoke. The taste is similar, with burnt toffy, licorice, smoked, bacon, ashes and touches of salt and pepper. Rather light what does not waste anything.

(75cl bottle best by 9-20-11 thanks to bu11zeye) jet black pour, coats the glass like oil and a ring of deep brown. Nose is rich, fudge, touch of smoke, graham cracker and raisin. Taste of smoke, thin chocolate, wood, linger of chocolate, thin body, and well carbonated.

Bottle@Home. Smoked eel and black berries aroma. Black colour, light brown head, fair lace. Light sweet, bitter, very smoked, malty, coffee. Sparkling and light bodied. Flavourful and balanced, nice stuff.

Draught at BQ, Milan. Black, minimal head. Smoke tar aroma. Light-medium boided, bordering to tart with lots of licorice and beechwood smoke.Mild tarry lemon leads to a salty finish. Interesting stuff indeed.

750 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.0%. Black colour, big brown head. Strong smoky aroma, notes of smoked meat and bonfires, also some moderate roasty notes in the background. The flavour is surprisingly mild, smoky notes of course, but not extreme. Very moderate roastiness, quite dry, too modest hops (Perle and Tradition). Hints of acidity throughout. Easy drinking.

Feiner aber schnell verschwindender Schaum. Weich rauchiger und dezent herber Antrunk. Die Rauchigkeit wird dabei zunehmend schwächer, was man bei dem voluminösen Geruch kaum vermutet. Im Mittelteil her, etwas holzig, die Rauchigkeit ist zwar noch deutlich vorhanden, hat aber im Vergleich zum Antrunk bereits duetlich nachgelassen. Die starke Karbonisierung behindert die Aromenentwicklung etwas. Geringe Süße, auch die Herbe ist aber ziemlich gering. Im Abgang merkt man eine gewisse Trockenheit, die vorher nicht wirklich ins Gewicht fällt, nun aberdie noch geringe Rauchigkeit weiter behindert. 12/11/11/9/10/11

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of fiulijn. Pours completely opaque black with a small light brown head. Distinct fat Bamberg smoke in the nose. Medium body, a little low in carbonation, chocolate malts again with a distinct smokiness. The finish is dry with a subdued bitterness. 260309
