From a very cool bottle. Pours quite black with no head at all. Smells of red wine, roast, coffe, funk and oak. Moderate sweet, quite vinous, the red wine barrel has really made some interesting tones on this imperial stout, there is also a nice touch of oak. Then comes the dark roasy malts and coffee flavors added with som fruity funky flavors which is really awsome. Some moderate acids also apply. Finishes off with a moderate bitter finish. Masterly done, an exquisite beer

50cl bottle (#0148) shared by Arve_Christian - thanks a lot! Pours very dark, reddish with slmost no head. Aroma is dominated by red wine, wood and fruits. Complex, strange and quite interesting. Sweet, desserty and flavourful. Sour notes balance the sweetness. Very nice, but not quite my thing.

On bottle from Vinmonopolet Vika ( October 2013), bottle # 0148. Very dark color with some reddish, almost no foam. Immediate barrel aromas, brett, malt, dried fruits , cherries and some roasted aromas. Medium/ full body & high complexity . Quite sweet, ok balance- but would prefer it drier. Very enjoyable

Bottle (500 ml). # 0588. The most beautiful bottle I’ve seen yet. Black with a small bubbly brown head that leaves a persistent ring of foam. Aroma is a tad cheesy at first, but it then open up and become really interesting with chocolate, red wine, brettanomyces, balsamic notes, wood and red fruits. Taste is also of red wine, chocolate, mineral notes, leathery brettanomyces, wood, red fruits and a light warming finish. Alcohol is well hidden for 12% abv. Medium to full body. Moderate carbonation. Vinous mouthfeel. It’s hard to like this one because of the price tag, but it’s a really good stout. Really complex, drinkable for the style (red wine BA RIS), well balanced and quite tasty. It’s nice that it’s winey (spent 13 months in red wine barrels), but not sour.
