3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
14/V/2012 - 75cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker) @ Klaasí place - BB: 19/I/13 (2012-499) Thanks to Klaas for sharing the bottle!
Clear ruby red beer, small off-white to yellowish irregular head, unstable, little adhesive. Aroma: lots of sweet fruits, mainly peaches, some pineapple too, syrup. MF: soft to no carbon, medium body. Taste: chocolatey start, some biscuit malts, then quite some grapefruit, grassy bitterness, citric acidity, little piny even if only slightly, and bitter hops. Aftertaste: some mocha, then very dry grassy bitter hops, still some exotic fruits, mainly pineapple, more mocha bitterness and dark chocolate lingering in the end. Almost a black IPA?

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tap at Chez Moeder Lambic Fontainas as part of my Pre-Wedding Celebrations. It pours deep amber, with a massive beige head. The nose is pine, resin, molasses, floral and charcoal. The taste is resin, pine, molasses, leather, chewy malt, touch of citrus, plastic, very dry and earthy, with a big bitter-dry finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Very dry and the balance doesnít work for me.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
25 cl. draft @ Chez Moeder Lambic Fontainas: a very dark amber fox red with a huge & very creamy head, smell is mellow fruity grapefruit & berries, definitely hops but no regular hop bitterness here that you would expect from an IPA, taste is sweet with fruity grapefruit & berries, once again definitely hops but very mellowed out, aftertaste carries like the mellowest hop bitterness ever, hint mango, strong dominating presence of creamy thick malts, slight caramel, sweet herbs, very creamy & sessionable but an IPA without the harsh edge seems a bit weird to me now

Gusto complesso ma ben bilanciato. Vien voglia di masticarla. Molto luppolata. Amara al punto giusto. Sentori di frutta.

1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Courtesy Slayer85. 750ml bottle, Lot L11052, best by 4/06/2012. After lifting the cap, a violent hiss foreshadows aggressive carbonation. Carefully pouring just a couple fingers of brew, Iím witness to a volcano-like eruption of foam, suggesting infection. Massive and stubborn, the oddly-dark tan head takes ages to recede, and leaves pronounced, three dimensional clumps of lace on the glass. Beneath, the body is a hazy, dark, burnt sienna color. The nose confirms my infection fears, as rubbery, plasticy bandaid notes are first to hit. Left to deeper reflection, there are suggestions of burnt toast and chestnut beneath, but I canít shake the plastic, even after letting it sit a while. Flavors arenít much better. A few sips are all I can muster, as the rubber and plastic tarnish what seems to otherwise focus on burnt biscuit, toast, and roasted chestnut, with a smattering of biting, peppery grass hops. The mouth stings from overly active carbonation. What would probably by a fairly sugary, malty brew with the intended attenuation, has instead turned into a bone dry, parching, scratchy palate that even I (who loves dry beers) do not appreciate. Quality control fail to the max.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
The beer is amber colored with beautiful, high, creamy head. Smells of citrussy hops with fruity nuances. Starts hoppy bitter and dry, with hints of citrus fruit. The middle part is fruity-hoppy, slightly citrusy acidity, with hints of tropical fruits. Goes into a hoppy-dry, very fruity citrussy finish!
