Courtesy Slayer85. 750ml bottle, Lot L11052, best by 4/06/2012. After lifting the cap, a violent hiss foreshadows aggressive carbonation. Carefully pouring just a couple fingers of brew, I’m witness to a volcano-like eruption of foam, suggesting infection. Massive and stubborn, the oddly-dark tan head takes ages to recede, and leaves pronounced, three dimensional clumps of lace on the glass. Beneath, the body is a hazy, dark, burnt sienna color. The nose confirms my infection fears, as rubbery, plasticy bandaid notes are first to hit. Left to deeper reflection, there are suggestions of burnt toast and chestnut beneath, but I can’t shake the plastic, even after letting it sit a while. Flavors aren’t much better. A few sips are all I can muster, as the rubber and plastic tarnish what seems to otherwise focus on burnt biscuit, toast, and roasted chestnut, with a smattering of biting, peppery grass hops. The mouth stings from overly active carbonation. What would probably by a fairly sugary, malty brew with the intended attenuation, has instead turned into a bone dry, parching, scratchy palate that even I (who loves dry beers) do not appreciate. Quality control fail to the max.

The beer is amber colored with beautiful, high, creamy head. Smells of citrussy hops with fruity nuances. Starts hoppy bitter and dry, with hints of citrus fruit. The middle part is fruity-hoppy, slightly citrusy acidity, with hints of tropical fruits. Goes into a hoppy-dry, very fruity citrussy finish!

Test vom 6.11.2010, Gebinde: Glasflasche

Read-brown, heavy white lacing, head gone quick. Earthy hop, bit of burnt caramel, and mango. Front is fresh citrus but a bit thin, orange with no excess sugar. Mid is piney with light bark while the finish shows an earthy, stinging bitterness. Heavy freshness, drying, very balanced and controlled with appropriate attenuation.

Fruchtiger Hopfenantrunk, deutlich holzig. 11/9/9/8/13/9

Bottle from the source. Murky chestnut color, huge, thick tan head with good retention. I can smell this baby from across the room - lots of citrus and floral notes going on, and some rising bread dough. Taste is light pine resin, grapefruit rind, lime, nice malt balance. Good stuff.

Bottle. Pours a dark, hazy orange with a large, frothy offwhite head, which clings to the glass like its electrostatic. Massive fresh fruity hop aroma. Man these guys knows how to hop a beer. Big on citrus, apricots, some resinous and spicy notes. Some malt sweetness in here too, not caramelly but not far from it. More burnt sugar, but it’s fairly faint. As expected, a hefty hop punch, but it’s not extreme. The sweetness balances it out nicely. Dry finish though. Doesn’t quite live up to the aroma. Medium bodied, carbonation is pretty mellow. Solid, drinkable IPA.

Aroma: floral and yeast. After a bit great floral herbs hops Wonderful. Appearence: amber, orange, cloudy. Frothy white head. Taste: At first light sweet, but soon after heavy bitter, but really weel balacend. Palate: medium to full body, nice carbonation, bitter finish. Really enjoyed, as soon as you finish the first glass you want another one, and then again. The label says "with uncontrolled use of american hops" and at first let me think it was the usual italian microbrewers experiment. I fear it because micro italian brewers usually exaggerate in strange aromas and tastes. But not this, it’s great, very balanced.

Au fût @ Moeder Lambic. Ambre claire, mousse blanche.
