It was very dark and smooth. Not overpowering or too sweet, but I enjoyed it and would buy it again. A very drinkable stout.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Deep brown, nearly black in colour. Minimal tan head, very little retention. Aroma of black coffee, dark chocolate. Taste is bitter, briny and has just a touch of sweetness. Medium body, watery mouthfeel, average carbonation and a lingering bitter/briny finish.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Absolutely not loving this. Mainly due to the brine and the unpleasant film left in my mouth. Shit ton of roast and an unwavering level of bitterness, burnt nuts, salt, a dark as fuck, mean ass chocolate and a weak fruit something... possibly. Although the aroma has the same characteristics it’s a totally different experience. So, my view on this has changed even though the initial impression that every sip leaves has not faltered. I guess this is what ’umami’ is. BIg whoop. In the end, a couple of things never quite settled with me yet I found myself gulping it down at a fast pace just because deep inside I knew that I wanted more.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Appearance: nearly black with clear brown margins, one fat finger of dense beige head, excellent retention and good lacing. (4/5) Aroma: cocoa, coffee, dark roasty malt, light brine. (6/10) Taste: moderate-low sweet, moderate bitter, light umami, light salt. (6/10) Palate: medium-full body, moderate carbonation, short duration finish. (3/5)
There’s actually a short-lived briny note of, yes, kelp upon decapping. Overall, though, it’s a quite mild stout with only a hint of umami and brine. A bit of a one-trick pony, nothing exciting. (12/20)

Bottle - Boozy bitter sweet chocolate. Deep brown with a decent brown head. Dark, sweet, briny and a long chocolate finish. OK, but nothing great.
