3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A Sim rate (cask at Chelmsford BF): Flavour of smoky meat. How I in all my vegetarianism can condone such behaviour, I don’t know. Perhaps it tastes like that smoked tempeh I remember so "fondly" from Healthy Pleasures in NYC. Aroma of tempeh-reminiscent of Waase Wolf the first time around. Flavour of bitter pickled foods, though somehow still very tasty. Like a smoky traditional ale. I really like it.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Originally sold as Phoebes Ale, now renamed Tipton Pride. Rich old gold colour. A beer that’s big on hops. Has some of that US style pine and resin character. Less assertive on the palate, but there’s still plenty of grapefruit and spicy fruit. Dry, crisp and fresh. An excellent beer. Cask at Reading Beer Festival, April 2005.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Cask Conditioned at The Waggon & Horses, Tipton, W.Midlands. Pale Gold with bubbly white head. Beer of the day on a long crawl around the West Midlands, cheers Matt for great organisation. Magnificent hoppy, dry chalky bitter with an incredible late finish. Absolute belter for a little brewpub.
