3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 DruncanVeasey (6116) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Premier, Warwickshire, - SEP 3, 2010BC. Dark ruby with a slim beige top. Nose-quivering cocoa, red apple flesh, ripe plum and woodsmoke aroma. Just the right combo of fruity and roasted; English fruit salad flicked with coal dust and cigar ash. Beautiful.

Bottled. A black beer with a thick whitish head and lacing. There are hints of chocolate in the nose and roasted malts in the mouth. Drinkable for sure but surprisingly thin and disappointingly ordinary.

Bottle. A clever play on words as the label shows a rather large (stout ) railway station porter. Quite dry and a bit too lively on opening.Apart from this it was overall an easy to sup beer that is worth looking out for,

Cask at The Wellington, Temple Hill, Birmingham 01-12-07 As mentioned for my other beer that I had at The Wellington this was served a bit warm, maybe it was because the palce was absolutely rammed, I couldn’t even take notes at the time because could barely move. Poured dark brown with off white head. tasted a bit thin, quite dry, some chocolate and coffee but a bit drab.

Cask-conditioned at the Bag O’Nails, Bristol 15/11/07. Slightly opaque, medium brown colour with a decent off-white head. Aroma of plain chocolate with some earthiness. Flavour had chocolate, a hint of roastiness and a decent dry finish. Good.
