2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
500ml clear glass bottle from Tesco. Toffee accented malt aroma. Pleasant malt, toffee, fruit and grass flavours. Lingering hop warmth in the finish. Quite drinkable, and decent flavours for a low abv pasteurised bottled beer. I could drink a few of these.

1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottle from Morrisons. Poured a clear copper colour, with a thin white head and visible force carbonation. Aroma of malt, CO2 and boiled sweets. Cream soda flavours and all the usual things one might expect from a pasteurised Greene King effort; really sweet, with a very artificial note and some grassy bitterness lingering in the background. This becomes quite metallic towards the end and leaves an unpleasant taste in the mouth.

Itís NOT bad!Itís an English beer, for Christís sake, and with low alcohol content. Nice and malty, honeyish, and a touch of biscuits. Sweet, as all bitters.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle from Tesco, Enniskillen
Light caramel brown, fizzy bubbles, large white head that dissipated
Aroma - clear bottle...not too much skunk though...slight caramel...bit of toffee...hint of fruits...not much here
Taste of slight sweet caramel...light fruits...bit tangy...touch of toffee...very thin in flavour...not too awful though
Palate - Medium carb...very light body...fairly sweet palate. Finish as main flavour...watery...smooth toffee caramel
Overall - Thought this was going to be shit but was better than expected...though I wonít be getting this again

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottled 31/08/13. An amber coloured beer with no head. Initially sweet with caramel and toffee notes. However a reasonable citrus note does come through a bit later. Not bad apart from the sickly sweet nose and actually tastes bigger than 2.8%

2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Not as bad as I thought it would be, probably because the pub kept it well. Mid-brown, looks and tastes (!) like Greene King IPA with a slightly bubble gum flavour to start off with followed by well, not a lot really. There is some butter but you expect that from GK. Finish is virtually instant. These low gravity beers offer the brewer the opportunity to brew an ale with the emphasis on the hops, an opportunity that Greene King have spurned. Good concept, lousy execution.

1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 2/20
Copper colour with a rapidly disappearing head. The initial skunky aroma settled down to a slightly toasty, sweet syrupy aroma. Tasted very watery with virtually no flavour at all.

As a such a low alcohol beer, not actually that bad. But forgetting that, pretty dull tasteless beer.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
[500ml bottle, gift from Maureen & Dave - cheers!] I hadnít yet tried any of the new 2.8% ales bought out since the tax changes, and thought it was a bit of a shame that the first one I got to try was from GK. I shared it with my brother who (without knowing what he was drinking) said with some distaste "this taste a bit Greene Kingish". And yes, it does have some of their typical caramel and toffee notes in it. But it also has some soft and pleasant hops - lemon, orange and peach. Itís easy drinking, but itís quite pleasant and well balanced and thereís a decent amount of flavour for the strength, A surprisingly good effort from GK - well done!
