Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Amber with a small white head. Malty aroma with a rather lovely note of faint woodsmoke. Taste continues the slightly ashy theme, but it doesn’t dominate by any means, and there are other shifting, evanescent, possibly fruity flavours to enjoy. A subtle and understated beer.

[Cask at The Three Judges] Amber with a moderate, dense head. Toasted malt, dusty yeast character, perfumed, some grassy notes. Light and dry.

Cask (handpump) at the Brunswick festival, 2005. A well fruited bitter. OK I suppose.

Sweet malt and a hint of smoke in aroma, Amber in appearance. Fruity hoppy flavour with a dry mid and finish.

Cask@St Albans BF. Earthy, lightly caramelly and, yes, perhaps lightly smoky, tangy lemon and lightly salty, i quite like it.
