3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 ianwelby (203) - - JAN 19, 2013A clear, deep red ale with a thick, frothy head. Aroma is very mild and of fruit and malt. The flavour is similar with a citrus edge and it’s quite bitter on the tongue. It’s subtle but distinctive and very drinkable.

Bottled. Pours a clear, dark ruby-brown colour, with a large, lasting off-white head. Fresh aroma of hops and pine, some citrus but no malt. Mostly dry in the mouth, with a smooth finish where a touch of malt appears. Flavours are clean and well balanced, but fairly, subtle.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Leighton (6961) - London, ENGLAND - JUN 26, 2012
Cask at the Crosse Keys, JDW, London. Pours clear, ruby-golden-brown with a small, foamy white head. Nose has some semi-ripened fruits, some berries and semi-dark fruits, light tang, hints of dry leather. Light sweet flavor with plenty of dried fruits, maybe cherries and berries, some light smokey malts (which seem a bit out of place), mild wood, leather, dirt and leaves. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Light sweetness in the finish with some leathery fruits, dirty and leafy hops, faint toasted grass, and toasty bread. It’s alright overall. Nothing super about it.

CASK . An old man beer ,tepid, with cobwebs and a stale vibe, despite it being alive cause its cask condtioned. The type of ale Captain Mainwaring from ’Dad’s Army’ would drink. the maltiness feels roasted...with either caramel or toffee and a treacly , rich profile.burnt notes ,with chewey chocolate . . A beer for grandpha .
