COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; created for the Wetherspoons International Real Ale Festival, Autumn 2009. Golden in colour, its hoppy character is balanced by a subtle, sweet maltiness, leading to a refreshingly dry aftertaste. Hops used: Challenger, Fuggles, Goldings

Tasted this at The Esquire House, Glasgow (JDW) in November 2009. Cask, handpump dispense. Crystal clear pale amber in colour with a thick white head. Sweet marmalade notes in the short aroma. Pale malts gives a strong warming citric flavour of thick cut marmalade with a sweet maltloaf base. Bitter citric flavoured hop flowers give a sharp tangy aftertaste. Dry woody finish with orange pith sucking out any moisture. A poor session bitter, far better examples to try in their extensive portfolio.

A Mes rate: Cask at Baker Street ’Sporks.
Dark gold topped with a thin white film. Faint diacetyl on the nose with some vanilla and toffee. Odd smoky and peaty note in the flavour but it actually works quite well. There’s still a faint hint of diacetyl but it’s masked well enough. Faint bitter finish with a smoky aftertaste. Interesting if not amazing.

Cask, Lord Keeper of the Great Seal, Oadby. Golden amber with a thin dense foam. Aromas are peppery and nutty with some toffee. Lemon with hints of peach. Flavours are sweet caramel with dry tea and earthy Autumn fruit. Creamy with a dry, woody finish. OK.

Cask conditioned handpump Briar Rose Birmingham. A golden coloured beer with a white head and lacing. The aroma has good lemon and other citrus fruit hoppy notes. These follow through to the mouth where there is also a hint of spicy prickle. A good body and a tasty beer.

Handpulled cask at JDW Rayners Lane. Amber with an off white head. A very drinkable session bitter with no outstanding characturistics. Fairly dry.

Cask at Bankers Draft (JDW), Bedford in ’Spoons BF ’09. Copper amber with a small white head. Sour buttery, no, cheesy aroma, which I quite liked. Strawy mothball taste is less appealing. Sharp bitter finish gives a rather harsh feel.
