Croatian Royal Beer.
Tomislav, made with 17.75% malt extract, is the strongest beer in Croatia, introduced in 1925. The use of double malted barley gives this dark lager its full taste and special aroma, much appreciated by connoisseurs. Tomislav pivo has an alcohol content of 7.3% vol, and should be served at 8° C.

Very dark brown with light brown foam head, not lasting too long, pitty. Aroma is not too stron, roasted malt and slight notes of coffee. Taste is pretty good though, roast, coffee, some toffee, some fruity tones. Short aftertaste, good beer. (Dubrovnik 201305)

0,5l bottle. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee, caramel. Taste is mostly roasted malt and coffee. It has slightly sweet aftertaste. It has slightly too high alcohol note in it’s taste, but it is great beer anyway.

I’m reviewing this beer on memory from a trip to Croatia, since I had never heard of RateBeer.com when I was there. I clearly recall that it was the best beer I had in country and I tried many. In fact, it was so good that I brought some home to Moscow with me (where I was working at the time) and shared it with a beer-loving friend, who shared my enthusiasm. I remember the alluring malty aroma and dark pour and the very hearty flavor. Basically, I recall it as a very satisfying ex-beer-ience and I recommend it to you! I wish I could find some in the US.

Kita (1071) - Koper, SLOVENIA - DEC 31, 2012
Bottled, 0.50l. Clear dark brown color with large creamy brownish head and lively bubbles. Aroma of caramel, coffee, dry fruits and with light smoky notes. Taste starts with full and rich roasted barley malt, while followed by sweet fruitiness, coffee, caramel and light alcohol warmth. Finish is decently bitter. Full body, oily texture and soft carbonation in palate. For now the best Croatian beer...

18.10.12(Flasche):dunkelbraun, cremefarbener Schaum. Sehr malzaromatisch, Lakritze und Trockenfrüchte. Der Geschmack ist leicht leer. Im Hintergrund ist es sehr malzig aber leider auch sehr eisenartig. Ziemlich rezent. Habs in kroatischer Sonne mit geilem Meer besser, macht wohl wieder mal das Feeling.
