This award winning doppelbock (8.2% alcohol by volume) lager is brewed with a generous supply of Munich, carapils, caramel and chocolate malts and is fermented with Bavarian lager yeast. The resulting caramel sweetness and rich mouthfeel are complimented by the mild bittering of German Hallertau hops. 1997 Great American Beer Festival Silver Medal Winner

Very nice brew! Has a caramel flavor w/ a touch of bitterness in the end to really round it out. Dark copper pour w/out much of a head. Good sweet malty aroma. I’m a fan!

12 oz bottle from Party Source from notes. Pours brown with a slight reddish tint and a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have moderately sweet caramel malt, moderate roasted malt, dark fruits like plum and cherries, some metallic notes to the finish, some warming alcohol. Pretty basic mouthfeel.

Carmel, toffee syrupy and medium body and mild warming from alcohol. A little on the sweet side for my taste but that doesn’t make it a miss. Well made and would be a good warmer sipper by the fire.

bottle. Brownish with one finger head. Substantial malt body. Nuts and caramel. Moderate booze and some light hops. Slightly better as it warms, but seems a bit harsh.

Aroma of chocolate and raspberry. Dark brown colour, with no head. A bitter palate of malt.

A syrupy sweet beer that plays on flavors of caramelized sugar and a clean style that doesn’t add much else. Upon looking for different characteristics within this beer I realized there were only faint flavors pushing past the sweet toffee and caramel notes. Nothing too significant, which is the same way to think about this beer.

Wow, someone at the brewery likes sweet beers, I however, do not. On draft, deep brown to red in the tulip glass with almost no head. Aroma of sugary caramel candy, some dark fruit notes, hints of vanilla, alcohol burn in the taste, mouthfeel is like carpet from the sweetness.

Amber color with off white head. Musty and earthy taste. Slight fruit hint. Not a fan. Had this on draft at tommyknocker brewpub.

12 oz bottle from Tipsy’s into my Funkwerks glass. Deep brown and clear with a small, mostly dissipating, tan head. Aroma is caramel, toffee, light chocolate, toasted malts, yeast, sugar and light fruit with a touch of herbs and spice. Similar flavor, medium sweetness and a touch of bitter hops. Smooth medium body with a creamy feel and a sweet finish. Paired with Cajun chicken pasta and chocolate chip cookies.

Pours a clear golden brown from the bottle with thin off-white cap of head. Aroma is sweet and vegetal, taste follows, almost like caramelized green peppers. Meh.
