3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: APR 18, 2003 Very sticky sweet, strong. Doesn't compare well to most other doppelbocks but at the affordable price of $1 per bottle, I'm not complaining. Lacks complexity that I like in other bocks. Quite potent but can't taste the alcohol.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Amber color with a light frothy light brown head. Initially an almost whiskey, soapy aroma. Very dry, with a good mix of malts flavor and fruits. The alcohol actually adds to the taste as opposed to dominating the beer. Can certainly feel the 8.2% going down.

Has the malty sweetness but is on the watery side. Alcohol hidden, quick finish.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 17/20
Decent doppelbock, but just doesnt quite fit in the same class as the Germans. Good, but just didn't have the richness I would expect.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
The first of three Doppelbocks I have lined up for this evening's tasting. This one pours a clear, deep reddish brown color with a small, rapidly dissipating off-white head. No lacings. The aroma wonderfully sweet with hints of caramel, banana, malts, and alcohol. Medium bodied and smooth with low carbonation, the flavor is malty sweet with a lingering banana bread and caramel finish. Alcohol is well hidden.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Best of the Tommy Knocker brews I have tried so far... The aroma light of spice and sweet. The appearance is a lightly cloudy deep amber with a thin creamy head. The flavor is of bubble gum and spice and maybe just a faint hoppy aftertaste (the flavor is what sold me on this one). The beer is smooth and drinkable. Overall the best (yet) of a 6-pack sampler, not a bad D-Bock at all.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: FEB 3, 2003 Deep orange/brown with little head. Smells fruity and a bit sweet. Spicy with definite caramel and maple flavors, along with some fruitiness. Not much malt presence, although the beer is quite sweet. Not bad overall, but a tad sweet.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Ruby/brown color. Palate was thinner than expected. Malts were sweet and caramel but gathered a sour/toffee as it warmed that became a bit cloying. middle of the road double bock
