Wolfenstein (93), Sarasota, Florida, USA Feb 29, 2008 Sweet, malty aroma, with rather interesting hints of praline, cinnamon and brown sugar. Medium-dark amber color. Excellent lacing. Accents of milk chocolate and butterscotch. Finishes with a brief offset of hop and bitterness, along with some fading esters. Indeed, surprisingly tasty.
kevd193213 (335), Coventry, Rhode Island, USA Sep 25, 2008 BOTM club. Amber pour with a thin tan head. Aroma of caramel and malt. Taste is somewhat thin and not as sweet as most in this style. Faint caramel and chocolate linger with the finish. pope_phred (117), Plainfield, Illinois, USA Sep 24, 2008 BOTMC Selection, September 2008: Poured from the bottle into a pint glass. Pour produced a reddish-brown body with and almost non-existent head of foam. Great caramel malt aroma. Low carbonation with a full body, and a good measure of sweetness. Alcohol is well concealed thought the hops leaves a slight bitter aftertaste on the sides of the tongue. Palate is unassuming, and aside from the sweetness of the malting and it’s overall heaviness, I don’t think that this is a complex beer. Nevertheless, I think it meets it’s commercial description rather well and a certainly a beer to warm up with on a cold day or night. keepersj12 (423), Sicklerville, New Jersey, USA Sep 23, 2008 I liked this much more than most it seems. Nice sweet caramel taste. It looks great with a dark amber color and small head. Aroma is very nice malty sweetness. Nice little burn as it warms. swanmann (254), Norman, Oklahoma, USA Sep 22, 2008 Please forgive the brief descriptions. Taster: aroma and flavor have a wonderful malt profile. The flavor has caramel sweetness with mild chocolate bitterness
CaryTheDude (258), Ripon, Wisconsin, USA Sep 20, 2008 Dug it. Very sweet nose made me dread the taste, but a good hop profile keeps this sweet but not too much. Hell, I think it’s pretty damn delicious.
