Linus_Stick (1527), Moon Township, Pennsylvania, USA May 2, 2008 A boring and flat doppelbock. Aroma was weak. Must, stale malt and iced tea. Pour was a decent dark brown with a one finger off white head. Taste was flat and one dimensional. Caramel malt, a hint of stale hops and a thin forgettable finish. I will give this beer credit. Does not taste like it has any alcohol in it, let alone 8.2%. Barely any carbonation and an almost smokey aftertaste.
machfive55 (45), Columbia, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 31, 2008 Just mildly impressed with this beer. Pours a deep amber with a nice head. A mostly malty aroma. Some rich malty flavors and hints of fruity, specifically cherry. Very little hop character with this beer. Overall, an underwhelming beer but good none-the-less. Mes_and_Sim (4360), Highgate, Greater London, England Aug 25, 2008 A Mes rate: bottle at GBBF. Rich amber with a thin beige head. Sweet malt, slight nuts and way too much burnt sugar. Slight notes of maple. A reasonable impressive clone of a German style but it’s all about the ingredients. The alcohol is hidden pretty bloody well I have to say. Lengthy finish with some late hoppage. It’s a bock certainly but it’s not a fantastic one. 1010 (23), Marysville, Ohio, USA Aug 24, 2008 12 oz. bottle
Pours a brown color with a small pale head. Has a fruity taste with a slight hoppy aftertaste. Not a bad beer, but not my favorite either. mnurda (352), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Aug 21, 2008 Mixed fruit sort of flavour. Almost like the fruit has gone bad. Nicely carbonated though. Not very impressive. Another disappointment from tommykcoker. BeerandBlues2 (2473), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Aug 19, 2008 Bottle. Pours clear brown with a small, fizzy, light brown head, mostly diminishing with spare lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (caramel, cookie, nutty), light hops (herbs), average yeast (dough, leaves, earth) with notes of dates and toffee. Full bodied, alcoholic texture, average carbonation, and a sweet finish. Long duration, moderate sweetness, light acidity and bitterness.
