Had this beer on 1/28/2007. Aroma is a mild roasted scent. Color is a deep dark amber with a lose head and good carbonation. Taste is light and sweet. Starting with a light/medium body it goes down easy with a smooth feel. Finish comes on with a mild sweetness and roasted flavor with only the slightest hint of coco in the very end that leaves you with a mellow sweet feel. Overall its not a full porter and the cocoa flavor is almost undetectable

very wheaty, almost rice cake aroma which has fainter notes of chocolate and honey. dark brown with a small slight tan head. pleasant and sweet flavor of chocolate, honey and wheat. nicely balanced. finishes sweet and again rice like. slightly bitter. overall a great chocolate and honey balance knocked astray by rice like off notes of the aroma and to a lesser extent in the flavor.

Pour is a dark black with a small an head. Aroma is deffinatly dark chocolate with some strong roasted malts. Flavor is a bit weaker but i get more of a coffee aspect than anything. No real cocoa in the flavor as the bitter coffee takes everything over. Still not all that bad just not what i was expecting.

UPDATED: NOV 25, 2007 Bottled. Pours dark brown with a small light brown head. Aroma is heavy chocolate with earth notes, combining to create the tootsie roll. Flavor is sweet candy like chocolate, hint of vanilla with earth notes, and again, tastes like a liquid tootsie roll. Medium to slightly watery body. The sweet chocolate dominates and is almost a little too sweet.

Red-brown, translucent body (albeit slightly hazy), thin buff head. Aroma of cocoa puffs. Thin, watery body with cocoa puffs and...cocoa puffs? Soggy and misshapen ones at that. Where’s the beer?

black pour with no head. smells mostly of malts and surprise surprise cocoa. thickness is good and the cocoa doesn’t kick in until the aftertaste.

No head which is always a downer. OK flavor but still a weird combo of flavors that don’t really work together.

Odd cocoa aroma, smells a bit off? Hints of roasted malts, coffee in the nose too. Pours dark brown, almost reddish. Better than last years, very bad awkward flavor upfront, a slight sourness, but it finishes very smooth, silky chocolate. The finish is great but i can’t over the begining enough to want to finish the bottle.

The aroma I encountered was much more coffee than cocoa, as it warmed a little of the honey and eventually the cocoa was hinted at, taste was harsh ,bitter ,and the off sourness, of old cold mocha coffee, almost dumped it

Dark brown with hints of orange at the rim when held to the light. Taller, thin bodied head that diminishes slowly to a a ring around the edge of the glass. Heavy chocolate and raw damp malt aromas. Some earthy hops as well in the scent. The scent just seems unclean to me. Thin and fizzy feel. Lactic stuff this is. A milk stout going beyond the expiration date. Some sweet chocolate in the middle and dry roasty finish. This seems too sour for what they intended and the label indicates October ’07. Perhaps it all the zip that adds the acidic overflow. Anyway I slice it, its not very pleasurable.
