Aroma: Mmmm...chocolatey, but not very strong aroma. Its a very black beer...looks more like coke than beer. Almost no head, but it does maintain a fine layer of lace. As for the taste...well, if I warmed it up, it would taste like a cup of cocoa...(go figure). Anyhow...its got a chocolate flavor with almost no carbonation and a lasting cocoa / bitter aftertaste. Its not horrible, but I definitely wouldn’t buy it again.

bottled - chocolatey, roasty aroma. Dark appearance. Dry taste - more of a stout than a porter. Not bad overall.

On tap at brewery. Appearance: slight tan head that does not last, brown color, opaque, good lacing. Aroma: chocolate, molasses, light floral. Palate: average carbonation, full body, dry finish, light sticky texture. Taste: sweet chocolate and molasses into floral drying hops and light dark chocolate bitterness. Overall, not amazing, but somewhat unique.

Pours a dark brown with red around the edges. Tan head with medium retention. Aromas of chocolate and dough. A little odd. Taste of chocolate and honey sweetness. Nothing wowing me. Ok average overall. A little smokiness in the finish.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. The Cocoa Porter pours black with a thick frothy light tan head that lasts a very long while. The aroma is chocolate, biscuit and honey. The flavor is chocolate up front with some honey and biscuit mixed in. None of the flavors are very pronounced. Overall this is a pretty average beer. Other than the odd mixture of honey and chocolate nothing really stands out.

Bottle from Wegman’s, served in snifter. Dark brown and medium bodied, with very little aroma. Cocoa and honey flavor is cloying at colder temperature but more pleasant when the beer has warmed some. Not an outstanding porter, but a decent beer.

Draft mason jar pour at Beaujos PIzza in Idaho Springs, Colorado. The pour is opaque brown with a small khaki head. The aroma is soft vegetal with sweet artificial cocoa along with some sweet malt. The taste is the sweet malt up front, followed close by the artificial cocoa and then some off flavors. The palate is light to medium bodied with the lingering sweet off taste.

Cocoa and sweetness. Maybe caramel make this beer up. Not too much of anything. Average brew. Noting spectacular.
