Draft. Clear light gold body with a frothy, white head. Aroma of clove, banana, toasted grain, floral hops, light mustiness. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Light tartness in the finish. Mediocre Belgian golden ale, muddled flavors with light banana and clove taste and raw grain. Like dozens of American saison wannabes that arenít.

Not the best saison. Pours cloudy gold with a thick head. Aroma of citrus and grass. Some dry spicyness and a lemon.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Smells sour like granny smith apples and the very slightest oregano. Hazy dark orange with giant fluffy white head and lots of lace, some "black pepper" looking sediment. Mild sour apple and a touch of tangerine with some white oak bitterness. Fizzy, light, filling, nice. Overall, a very flavorful saison.

Real bummer. Love their doppelbock. On tap at a local pub. Dark for a saison, almost dark orange. Dwindling head. Aroma of green apple, spicy saison funk and green apple. Taste unpleasantly balanced sour with pear and green apple. I couldnt get past the sour green apple in this beer. Switched to a local wit after painfully drinking half the snifter.

6/12/2011: Tommyknocker Golden Saison... Aroma: Wheat
and doughy malt, yeast, light citrus, and a dash of spice.
Appearance: Cloudy, tarnished gold color with a massive head of rocky
off-white foam. Flavor: Tangy, slightly sweet malts; sweet
breadiness followed by perfume and citrus peel and then a nice tartness; soft throughout and
definitely soft in the finish. Palate: Medium-light, well-carbonated
and airy. Overall: Surprisingly, this beer surpassed by expectations,
HOWEVER, Tommyknocker typically makes some fairly trashy beer (I got
suckered in by the sale price tag on this beer), so my expectations
were that this beer would be just slightly better than sewer water.
This beer is, in fact, drinkable, but is still underwhelming and not
really to style (in my opinion), although most American micro Saisons
arenít anything like their traditional Saison counterparts. This beer
is just okay for what I have dubbed the more mainstream "American
Saison" style of beer made for the masses, but I definitely wonít be
drinking a second bottle of this beer ever again.
16 fl. oz. bottle (5% alcohol by volume) from Jungle Jimís International Market in
Fairfield, Ohio. Rating #45 for this beer.

On tap at the brewery last spring. Pours a murky orange with a white head. Light aroma, of yeast, hops, and a bit of spices. Bigger taste, of baking spices, coriander, orange peel, malt, and yeast. Lingering sparkly spices. Decent saison.

August 23rd, 2011 - Here it is! At last, here is the beer I can call oh so dear, that one brew in many that can draw me into Tommyknockerís brewery where I can cry aloud with satisfying pride, "Hark! One Golden Saison, for this thirsty man before you!" When I descend from slopes and trails and boulders frozen mid-tumble but before I come to home for weary rest and respite, grant me one bottle of the Golden Saison on which I wet my lips. / The Golden Saison inflates with two or three fingers of white, cotton like foam which floats sleepily on top of a pale, golden straw colored beer. The nose features touches of pear, some popcorn butter and touch of sweet blood orange, while the flavor introduces itself with a solid carbonation, carrying a cleansing acidity but the same butter touches found in the aroma. Mild, but interesting for the touch of mandarin orange, this is indeed the beer I would regularly drink after the token stop in Idaho Springs which always ends by gorging on BeauJeauís pizza.

Golden with a larger, frothy white head. Aroma is tart, fruity, a bit of earthy. Full bodied. Flavor has plenty of tart fruit, spicy yeast, sweet, light rustic earth. Pretty fun brew.

Pours hazy canary golden with 1-finger frothy white head and a lot of carbonation. Nose is floral spices, candi sugary malt, some horseblanket, and hopcitrus. Tastes hoppy and citric, dry and floral, with some funky mid-palate notes. Finishes tart and sour. Meh.
